Guest post by Stacey - mother of 4, elementary school teacher, Thirty-One consultant...and one of my closest friends!
Disclosure: All opinions are my own. I received complimentary tickets for my family to attend the Let It Snow event at the Nickelodeon Suites Resort.
I was beyond excited when LeeAnn asked me to cover the Let It Snow event at the Nickelodeon Suites Resort. Being a mom of 4 with my munchkins ranging from a 7 year old to a 1 year old, I knew immediately it wouldn't be hard to persuade two of them to come with me. As soon as I mentioned a chance to meet SpongeBob and Dora the Explorer, my 5 year old son and my 4 year old daughter jumped at the opportunity.
Upon arriving at the Nickelodeon Suites Resort, we were greeted at the parking kiosk by a friendly employee directing us to the parking area. She immediately apologized to us for the less than perfect (horrible downpour) weather. She thanked us for coming and sent us on our way!
After getting checked in, we were directed into the "mall" area of the resort. They were in the process of setting up some of the activities for us indoors that they had originally planned for outside. The entire staff was so friendly and so helpful. And they all just kept apologizing over and over because of the weather. Hey, we live in Florida…these things happen! So while we waited, we got to explore and see a 4D movie! What a cool experience! 3D glasses, moving seats, real bubbles, snow, oh my!!!
The kids (okay my husband and I also) LOVED it! If it were up to them, they would have probably watched all the movies that they had offered. There are 6 of them and they play continuously throughout the day. This is part of the add-on package for guests or they can purchase visits. In addition to the movies, they have a gift shop where you can purchase all of your favorite Nickelodeon Character memorabilia, a very large arcade, pizza place, 2 restaurants, a bar area, and Starbucks. Definitely lots to do to keep you and your family busy!
Before we knew it they were ushering us into one of the restaurants to officially kick off the event! A DJ was playing some of our favorite Christmas tunes and directed into the buffet line to grab some snacks before the entertainment began.
The food was delicious, a great assortment of appetizers for both the children and the adults. My kids devoured the cookies and soft pretzels of course while mom and dad enjoyed some spring rolls and fried mac n cheese!
Don't forget the holiday beverages!! Wintertinis and assorted beers for the adults were offered and specialty blue drinks and hot cocoa for the kiddos. I would definitely not miss a chance to hit up this restaurant if we were staying at the resort. YUMMY!
Our attention was then brought to the center of the restaurant. The dancers performed a holiday number and then were joined by the special guests for the evening, SpongeBob, Patrick, Dora, Boots, Diego, and Milli from UmiZoomi! They sang and danced with the entertainers and then came around to visit all the tables. Meeting Dora live and in person made my daughter's whole night. The characters were all dressed in their holiday attire! So cute!
Shortly after the characters departed, we were directed to the Nick Studio for the viewing of Celebrate Nickmas, the live stage show performed by the Nickelodeon characters.
The kids were once again thrilled to be able to see their favorites up close and personal. And what Christmas show is complete without a visit from the Jolly, Old Man himself!
This part truly got us all in the holiday spirit and the kids even got to sit on Santa's lap!
Now while the weather could have put a damper on the event, the staff at the resort did a great job of keeping everyone entertained and seeing what they had to offer. Had the weather been better, we could have explored the water park outside where the water is always a comfortable 84 degrees, slid down the 2 story-inflatable slide, sipped hot cocoa while roasting s'mores by the fire, and enjoyed a beautiful Florida "snowfall" out on the pool deck.
On our way out, we were given a gift bag. Inside was an adorable Christmas ball to hang on our tree and remind us of the fun time we had at Let it Snow!
If you are considering a trip to Florida over the holidays or already live here and are looking for a fun, affordable staycation, I would definitely recommend checking out the Nickelodeon Suites Resort. It is definitely a place with fun for the whole family!
The Let It Snow Celebration happens on select nights through December 30th, and is a free event for all registered guests. Visit the Let It Snow event page for more information and to make reservations.
