We were introduced to the Motorworks line of customizable wooden toy vehicles by Manhattan Toy several months ago, and Bryce absolutely loves them! In fact, he still plays with the original cars we reviewed all the time. If you happened to miss our first Motorworks review, you should head over and check it out so you will know what these cool cars are all about. Go ahead, we'll wait...
OK. So now that you've read that review and know that these high-quality wooden vehicles have parts that are totally interchangeable with one another, you will know why Bryce was thrilled to be able to review some of the items in the updated Motorworks line...another car and more cool parts!
We received the new EXX Atomic Rider 2.0 and Top Fuel 2.0 Accessory Kit to review, and just like the last set, the vehicle and accessories are all quality pieces and very awesome looking. The details on the car are great! The back of the box shows how to disassemble and reassemble the car, which is great since we have collected several pieces now, and may not remember how to get each car back into their original state.
Bryce was so excited to get his EXX Atomic Rider 2.0 out of the box and play with it! He
Bryce has always loved to take his toys apart and put them back together again (I always say he's going to be some kind of engineer), so it didn't take him long to start disassembling the car.
The pieces are secure when on the vehicles, but come off with a gentle tug. Bryce was able to get all of the parts off of the car, but then needed a little help from Daddy to put the new accessories on. The accessories all snap on easily, and they fit just as well as the original pieces.
With Daddy's help, Bryce's "regular" car was transformed into a "super cool" car with big and little tires. He loves to have the cars at an angle...he says they go faster.
He drove his "super cool" car around for a while and then remembered that he had other cars that were similar. He was very excited to find out that he could use the old pieces on the new cars, and the new pieces on the old cars. The 1.0 and 2.0 lines are perfectly compatible with one another!
After several minutes of car customization, Bryce and Daddy had three cars to race around.
They had a few races...did you know that cars can fly?...and then they had to switch some parts again and make new cars.
When you have three cars, you need three drivers, so Rylie soon joined in on the fun. They lined the new customized cars up and took off on some high speed chases.
Check out the different vehicles everyone had...at least at that point in time.
Rylie then decided that she needed to make her own car. She took her dad's truck, changed some parts out, and then had a new vehicle to race!
The Motorworks vehicles and accessories provide for HOURS of fun. Seriously, my kids never seem to get bored with these. The customization possibilities are endless, and they have so much fun seeing what kind of "super cool" cars they can come up with. Even Brian sat there and made a couple of cars for himself!
The Motorworks vehicles and accessories are very reasonably priced, which makes them even more awesome. The vehicles range in price from $14 to $30, and the accessories from $5 to $12. Bryce's cars and trucks have been played with for months now, and all of the pieces still fit tightly and they are all in great shape. These vehicles are definitely worth the money!
I honestly have nothing negative to say about the vehicles and accessories themselves, and we will definitely add more to our collection. The only issue I have with these is the amount of pieces that will inevitably get lost. (We are already missing a tire from the first set.) I would love to see Motorworks offer some type of case with sections for the different pieces, and of course I would love to be the first to review said case, because I'm sure it would be nicer than the Ziploc bag Bryce keeps his in.
