I know there may be some people out there that like to do laundry (OK, that number may be small and no one that I know, but hey, they have to be out there, right?) but I am not one of them. Yes, I like having clean clothes and yes, I love the smell of clean laundry, and there is nothing like a nice, warm towel. But can't I hire someone to do it for me? Actually, it's not that bad. I am OK with the washing and drying part, I just sometimes take too long to fold, and I despise putting the stuff away.
I am always looking for something that will make this job a little easier. I use various stain-treaters, and have found a detergent that I love. While I like the smell of dryer sheets, I don't use them very often because the kids' laundry is mixed in. A few years ago, I saw rubber dryer balls on one of those "deal a day" sites and they were free, you just had to pay for shipping. I figured why not? They arrived a few weeks later, and they were SO loud. Those hard plastic balls were always just BANGING into the side of the dryer. Thank goodness our dryer was in the garage at our old house! I think those balls lasted all of about a week before I pitched them.
I recently heard of some wool dryer balls that claim to be pretty quiet, and I figured that it would be great to try them out and see how well they worked. The fact that they are eco-friendly is just a bonus! Woolzies Dryer Balls from Soft by Nature, Inc. are 100% pure wool natural laundry softeners.
Soft By Nature, Inc. is a small family owned company nestled in the picturesque Hudson Valley region of Southern New York State. Our mission is straight-forward; we intend to pass down this earth to our children in the same beautiful condition that we received it from our parents. We accomplish this by developing all natural eco friendly products and sharing them with our fellow citizens.
In this spirit, we are very proud to present WOOLZIES®, The All Natural Dryer Ball Set. This set of six handmade pure wool dryer balls are special in several ways. They deliver the same benefits for laundry as conventional fabric softeners WITHOUT all the nasty chemicals. They save everyone a lot of money by eliminating the need to continuously spend on fabric softener liquid and sheets. They cut down on the time it takes to dry a typical load by at least 25% thereby saving everyone even more money and cutting down on fossil fuel usage. Finally, being as that they are handmade in the democratic republic of Nepal, they provide a steady source of income to the desperately needy women of that developing nation.
I received the Woolzies Dryer Balls to review, and immediately noticed all of the items mentioned on the outside of the box.
A product that reduces drying time, eliminates wrinkles and static, and is chemical free seemed perfect! I also love that they are hypoallergenic. With Kennedy's recent allergy problems, I feel OK using these on her clothes.
Woolzies Dryer Balls are about the size of a baseball and are round for the most part. They are hand-made, so some of them are a bit off center or bulge, but they still work fine. Using the dryer balls is simple - you just toss all 6 of them in with your wet clothes and turn on the dryer! It is that easy!
The dryer balls do everything they claim to. They definitely get rid of any static and wrinkles. Remember how I mentioned above that I sometimes (OK, most of the time) forget to fold our clothes immediately and I have to "freshen" them up for 10 minutes to get some wrinkles out? Since I have been using these dryer balls, I have noticed a significant difference in the amount of wrinkles left in our clothes when I do the "freshen" up thing for 10 minutes. It almost seems as if I am pulling everything wrinkle-free from the dryer immediately!
I do have to say, after using these balls for several weeks, one of them has mysteriously disappeared. I am sure my oldest daughter, Haley, has something to do with it, and I know it will turn up eventually, but even with just five of these, they work pretty great. I haven't noticed a 25% reduction in drying time, I am maybe at 10%, but that could be due to the missing ball. But I will still take 10% less drying time. I easily do 6 loads of laundry a week, and any time saved is awesome!
You can purchase Woolzies Dryer Balls for $34.95 at www.woolzies.com, with free shipping in the US. (Shipping is only $6.95 outside of the US.) Since these balls last for 1,000 loads, they are easily much cheaper than using traditional dryer sheets.
