Coming back home from vacation is never easy. It's bad enough that I had to come back to "real life", but there are all of things that I fell behind on that need to get caught up. We have been back from our cruise vacation for over a week now and I'm still playing catch up. Work was nuts last week, and I was pretty busy with the blog too, but I think I have a handle on both of those now.
Something else I fell behind on while I was on vacation was exercise. While the fitness center on the ship was pretty awesome, I will admit that I didn't step foot in it. I did look through the windows while Brian and I were sipping cocktails out on the deck, but that was the closest I got to exercising while we were gone. And thanks to all of those cocktails and the awesome food we ate every day, I managed to gain 6 pounds during the 5 days we were on the ship.
Yes, 6 pounds in 5 days. Craziness!
So while I was busy catching up on work and blog stuff last week, I was also busy working out on my elliptical trainer from Smooth Fitness. I need this vacation weight gone!
For my workouts last week, I decided to go with the Fat Burner program. This program comes up with a time of 32 minutes, but I adjusted it down to 30 when it instructed me to enter a time. When the program actually came up on the screen and I saw how high most of the bars went, I think my heart skipped a couple of beats.
I have to admit that during that first workout, when the program got up to level 9 (which happened pretty quickly), I didn't know if I would make it through the entire 30 minutes. I had a TV show on, though, so I concentrated on that and not the burn that was coming from my legs. I even had Rylie snap a picture of me to prove that I could still smile while I was working out.
Before I knew it, the resistance was going back down - first to level 7, then level 3, then level 1 - and I looked down at the time to find out that my workout was almost complete. I did it! I exercised for 30 minutes and I felt great!
I stuck with the fat burner program all week, and each workout got easier. I did lose 4 of the 6 pounds I gained while I was on the cruise, and I'm hoping that the other 2 pounds will be gone this week. With the Easter Bunny stopping by tomorrow morning, though, I don't know if that will happen. I might just have to raise the intensity on my elliptical trainer after our chocolate bunny breakfast...
