When I was pregnant with my first daughter, Haley, I had no idea what to register for. I didn't really have anyone helping me while I was at the store, and we needed so much for that first baby. It was overwhelming. There were a few things I decided to buy on my own because I knew of a few discount places that sold them cheaper than most baby retailers, and I figured if I bought some of those essentials cheaper myself, then friends and family would get me things off the registry that I needed and couldn't find somewhere else. One of the things that I decided to buy myself was a cart cover, and I got it somewhere like Marshall's or TJMaxx. When I was registering for items, the cart covers that most baby retailers carried were around $60. Um, what? For a shopping cart cover?? It seemed pretty pricey to me, and I found a much cheaper alternative.
While I definitely used it for a few months with Haley, I ended up not using that cart cover once she got a little bigger. It slid around and had these horrible holes that you needed to thread the actual shopping cart straps through, and it was a chore. Mine was also pretty bulky. It was such a hassle to use it that I ended up putting it in the garage and just trying to use those wipes that stores provided and hope that somebody before me didn't have a really sick child in the same cart.
When Kennedy came along, since I just figured all cart covers were the same, we used it for her as well. And I hated it. It was such a chore. I couldn't wait until she was a little bit older so that I could just abandon the silly thing altogether.
When the opportunity came to review the Cozy Cart Cover from Comfort & Harmony by Bright Starts, I jumped at the chance. I figured even if it wasn't that great, anything was better than the one I had. I know that Bright Starts makes some really great products, so I figured it would be pretty awesome. I just didn't realize how awesome it was.
Before we even made it out the door, Kennedy had a blast playing with the box it came in. Silly girl.
I actually had to run to the store that day, so the delivery timing was perfect. Once I got to my usual grocery store, I realized I had a little dilemma. My main grocery store only has carts that seat 2 kids.
I went ahead and put the cart cover on, and although it didn't completely go around the back part, it stayed on good enough that it didn't come off the entire shopping trip.
Also notice that on the back, there are a few pockets for small things. I think it would be great for your cell phone or a few extra toys. The front part over the handle does have a few little loops to attach toys to, and when Kennedy was a little younger, that would have been awesome to have! Now she is too focused on what is going on around her to care about a toy.
One of my favorite features of this cart cover is that it has a clip in the front between the baby's legs that actually holds the cart cover to the cart so it doesn't slide around. My other one didn't have this and it would slide around constantly! This also works great if you decide to use this cover in a restaurant high chair!
Once I got it in the cart, it was ready for Kennedy. I just love how pink and girly this cart cover is! My other one was gender neutral, and I have always been jealous of the pink or blue ones I see in the store.
What is also awesome is that you don't have to thread the store cart's straps through any little holes!! This cart cover actually has its own harness inside that you just clip the little buckles into. This is my favorite feature of this cart cover, and the photo I have of the harness part is really blurry, so I found one online that you can see what I am referring to.
The cart cover works great as a high chair cover in restaurants too! Recently we have become disgusted at the condition of some of the high chairs and how dirty the straps are. I can't stand touching them to clip Kennedy in. This cover has solved that because I don't have to touch their straps at all!
No, the above photo isn't Kennedy, but the past few times we have gone out to eat, I haven't had my camera with me. After we used it at the restaurant, I tossed it in the wash and it came out looking like new!
For a cart cover that has all of these awesome features, I thought the Cozy Cart Cover would be close in price to those pricier ones I saw, but I was pleasantly surprised that it retails for only $29.99 at Babies R Us. That is an awesome price for such a quality, cute cart cover!
Comfort & Harmony by Bright Starts has so many great products for babies. Which other product(s) might you like to own?
