The kids are at school today, and they are both so excited for their Valentine's Day parties! I made up little treat bags last night for them to pass out to their friends today. They started with Pixy Stix Valentine's for Rylie's friends, and she wrote her name on all of them. (The teachers ask us not to fill out the "to" field, so it makes them easier for the kids to pass out.) Bryce has SpongeBob Valentines for his friends - complete with gummy crabby patties!
Then I took those and added some more candy, all in little treat bags.
Valentine's Day, along with any holiday that involves candy and treats at school, is very nerve wracking for parents like me who have kids with food allergies. Luckily, the teachers don't let the kids eat any of the candy that they collect in their Valentine bags, so we will check everything over when they get home tonight. Some parents may end up bringing cupcakes or cookies for the party, though, and that is where I get concerned. The teachers are usually very diligent about Rylie's allergies, but I still worry. I will be so glad when the parties are over and she is home safe!
Since I know the kids will get a ton of candy at school today, I decided not to get them much for their gifts from us. I did find small boxes of chocolate that were safe for Rylie, and they even had their favorite characters on them! I also got Bryce a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle and Rylie a Barbie.
Bryce was in my bed when I woke up this morning and he immediately asked me if it was Valentine's Day. When I told him it was he asked "Where is my present?" I told him it was on the kitchen table and he shot out of my room faster than an air force jet. He was so excited about his Turtle! Just when I asked him if he wanted to go tell Rylie it was Valentine's Day and to get up, she came walking down the stairs. Of course she loved her new Barbie, since that is her latest obsession. And yes, I let them have a piece of chocolate with their breakfast. :-)
Once the kids had a look at their presents, Rylie ran out in the other room and came back with these Valentine cards that she made for us at my mom's house yesterday. She was all smiles when she gave them to us. She's such a sweet girl!
Rylie, Bryce and I gave Daddy some cards and a box of chocolates. I think he had a piece or two for breakfast also.
For the first time in over 13 years, Brian sent me flowers to work. He sent them yesterday since I wasn't going to be there today, but unfortunately, they never showed up. I was soooo bummed, and so was he. When he looked online, it said that no one was available to take delivery. What!?!? We have a receptionist there from 8-6 every day! So he called FTD and they gave him some BS about how if I wasn't available to take the flowers, they wouldn't just leave them. Well heck, I could have been in a meeting, in someone else's office or in the bathroom when they showed up. But who knows if they really did show up??? No one said anything to me about someone trying to deliver flowers, so who knows what happened. It was such a sweet thought on my husband's part, and I appreciated it a lot...even though I never received my flowers. I love that man!
As for me and my Valentine, we will actually be spending the day apart. We had planned to go away for a few days alone, but he couldn't get the rest of the week off of work. So I am going to head to the west coast to meet up with a friend today, and then he will drive over tomorrow and we will have our little weekend getaway while the kids are with my mom.
So, what is everyone doing to celebrate Valentine's Day? I hope you all have a wonderful day filled with love!

That sucks that FTD never delivered your flowers, what jerks! I sure hope that they are making it up to you somehow.
Also... I think I would be a rock star if I could pull off Rylie's leggings and look that cute!
They are growing up so fast and look so cute. I'll be having chocolates after dinner. Happy V-Day!
Looks like y'all had a great day! Their goodies they gave out are adorable!
Super sweet thought on hubby's part but what crap from FTD. I hope they give y'all a refund or make it right somehow. My hubby surprised me at the last minute with a gift when I thought for sure we weren't exchanging gifts gotta love surprises =)
I can't believe FTD didn't deliver your flowers! Are they going to try again? You'd think if you weren't available, they'd at least leave a message that they had tried to make a delivery and leave you instructions on how to get them. Hope you and your hubby get to enjoy your weekend!
Happy VDay my friend!! I am glad the kids liked their presents and their candy. I got Anthony a TMNT too...lol!! It is great that you are allowed to give out candy at the kids' school, because we are NOT! And it makes it harder to come up with something to give out...lol! Sorry that you didn't get your roses, it was the thought that counted!
Sorry about your flowers :( How precious the kids had a gift for you and hubby! Your weekend getaway I would to do that. Hope you had a great Valentine's Day!
My hubby and I went out to dinner.
I gave my girls a special vday toys too, Squinkies. Sorry about the flower delivery problems, my husband always picks up flowers himself from Safeway. They make great arrangements
Sounds like you had a nice Valentine's Day. Weird that the flowers weren't delivered. The kids look happy with their V-Day gifts.

I spent Valentine's Day with my granddaughter and it was the best day - she is just 2 and has begun to understand the idea of holidays. Your kids look beautiful.
