When I was a kid, I used to love playing board games. They kept my friends and I busy on rainy days, in the evenings when it was time to come inside, at slumber parties, and even on vacation. I still enjoy playing board games as an adult, and I can't wait until my kids are just a little older so we can all play some of my old favorites together.
One of my all time favorite board games is Monopoly. I have fond memories of buying up properties and trying to bankrupt my opponents. It was a game that was sure to keep us busy for several hours, and we always had a great time playing it.
When you play Monopoly, do you always use the same token? I sure do. Many people have a strong opinion when it comes to their token preference. One of these classic tokens is about to be retired for good, and the fate of these iconic eight tokens now rests in the hands of fans around the world.
Will the battleship sink? Will the top hat be hung up for good? One thing is for certain, and that is that one of these tokens will be sent to jail to never be seen again. It is up to YOU to save your favorite token! Head over to the Monopoly Facebook page and vote for the token you would like to save from this horrible fate. Up for retirement are: the battleship, iron, racecar, Scottie dog, shoe, thimble, top hat, or wheelbarrow.
I have been placing my vote every day to save the Scottie Dog. I always played with this cute little guy, and I want to continue to do so!
When the token with the least amount of votes is sent to jail, a new token will take it's place, and that is also up to Monopoly fans. When you vote to save your favorite token, you can also place a vote for the new token. Up for consideration are: the diamond ring, guitar, toy robot, cat, and helicopter.
Voting is easy! Just go to Monopoly's Facebook page and click on the Save Your Token app. You will then choose one token to Get Out Of Jail, and then one token to Pass Go. Along with trying to save the Scottie Dog, I have also been voting to bring in the Ring. Who doesn't love sparkly jewelry?
If you haven't done so already, start getting your votes in now! The trial ends on February 5th, so vote every day to save your favorite Monopoly token before it's too late!
Time is also running out to get a copy of the classic Monopoly game with the eight iconic tokens, so get yours while you still can. You can purchase the game directly from the Hasbro Toy Shop, at local retailers, or online at sites like Amazon.
