My best friend Melissa invited us over to her house for Thanksgiving dinner. Since her husband is like the best cook ever, and since I have never cooked a turkey (and don't really ever care to), I gladly accepted her offer. On Wednesday night, Brian prepared our contributions to the feast - corn casserole and baked macaroni and cheese - and we headed over to the west coast of Florida on Thursday morning.
Our first task when we arrived at Melissa's house was to attempt a family photo. Well, you know how that goes when you have two little ones, right? We did manage to get a couple of decent ones, though...
We spent the evening devouring delicious food and enjoying the company of friends and family. My mom joined us for dinner, along with a few of our good friends, and my brother and Michelle came over afterwards, along with Melissa's step-son and his wife. Of course everyone had fun passing baby Mia around and getting in some snuggles here and there while she celebrated her first Thanksgiving!
After dinner and dessert, Rylie and Bryce got in their jammies and settled in on the air mattress to watch Brave for the 140th time. It wasn't long before the two of them were passed out. When I got ready to go to bed (after my 2nd helping of dessert), I found them snuggled up together like this...
Bryce is definitely NOT easy to sleep with!
On Friday I headed out to have lunch with my other best friend Rebecca, while everyone else had a lazy day at the house. My kids never even got dressed! They didn't care, though, since that is their favorite way to spend the day. They got to color with all of the fun art supplies that Melissa bought them, and of course play with Mia. They even took turns feeding her. Good thing she's a pretty easy-going baby!
Rylie talked Aunt Melissa into letting Mia take a bath with her, so Mia got to experience her first bath in the big tub, and the girls loved it! After that, they all put on their matching sock monkey pajamas that Melissa had for them, and we attempted to get some pictures. We managed to get one good one of the three of them before Mia and Bryce decided that they were done taking pictures...
...but then I managed to bribe my kids for one more...
Bryce thought it was super cool that Aunt Melissa also had matching monkey jammies, so he was all smiles when he climbed up on the couch and photo bombed the picture I was trying to get of Melissa and Mia.
Once Bryce was satisfied with his picture with Aunt Melissa, he finally let me get one of just Melissa and Mia alone. It is so cute that I just had to post it here.
Saturday was Melissa's birthday, so the 4 adults headed out to see Cirque du Soliel Kooza early Saturday afternoon. We had a great time toasting Melissa's birthday with Koozaritas while we watched the show.
After the show, we rushed back home to get the girls ready for their Fairy Portraits. We took Rylie and Mia to this photographer's studio where he had an enchanted forest set up. The girls dressed up as fairies and had several photos taken. I'm really anxious to see how they came out!
After the photos, we packed up and headed back home. We had such an awesome weekend! Thank you so much Melissa and Rick for your wonderful hospitality!
How was your Thanksgiving? Did any of you brave the stores for some Black Friday shopping?

We had a great Thanksgiving with family but I am glad to be back to my normal eating routine and not feeling stuffed. My parents were gracious enough to watch my two boys and my nieces so everyone could shop on Friday. We didn't go out real early and were still able to get what we needed.
I think your photos look great! I have 3 boys and never are they all looking at the camera. Last time we had portraits done. A shoving match broke out because they were too close together. (One of my boys has Autism and couldn't take it. That when the first shove came in. you have a beautiful family.
I really love those family pics, feel like I know y'all. It's fun watching the kids grow so quickly also. Cherish the moments because it just goes by so quickly
