At our house most of our shows we record on DVR, so we don't see too many commercials. This means we sometimes miss out on some great information and great products. Luckily I do get to see a few while I am at the gym on the treadmill and catch up on some stuff we miss while at home.
Lately I keep seeing a commercial for Stompeez - these really cute slippers for kids that the eyelids move up and down as kids walk. This commercial always makes me smile because I remember when I was a kid and would start to see some commercial around Christmas time of something that I just "had to have" and I know that there are probably a lot of kids that are telling their parents they want Stompeez for Christmas.
When I was asked to review these fun slippers, I was excited that I would get to see them in person. I figured Haley wouldn't know what they were since most of the shows she watches don't have commercials. I went to the web page to look and see what I would pick for her, and as soon as the music started playing, she yelled "Stompeez!!" Wait...she knows about them? I asked her if she would like to pick a pair out for us to order and she didn't even need me to click on the choices. She immediately yelled "I want the unicorn ones please!" She was SO excited about them. I am still not sure where she saw the commercial, but apparently she knew what she wanted! Every day until they got here she would ask me if they had arrived yet.
The day the Unusual Unicorn Stompeez arrived, Haley was SO excited. They arrived as we were walking out the door, so I was able to mention them while we were at the store and Haley was on her best behavior! When we got home, she had to put them on as soon as we walked in the door. When she first put them on, the eyes were closed...
That first day she did have a problem getting them to work correctly (she is kind of light) but on the second day, she got much better at making the eyes "open".
She now proudly wears them around the house on a daily basis, and is quick to put them away when her sister starts crawling towards them. These are her prized possessions! It always makes me laugh.
The Stompeez work by these little air pillows in the heel. As the child steps back onto the "pillow", a puff of air goes through a tube in the slipper and causes the eye to puff open.
Stompeez can be purchased from the official Stompeez website for $19.95 plus shipping. Shipping to our house was pretty fast, which would be nice if ordering for a holiday gift. The website states that orders that are placed by December 15, 2012 can choose standard shipping and still have the item in time for Christmas. I know I will be ordering several as gifts for my nieces and nephews this Christmas!
If you order before December 31st, you will get $5.00 off your order when you enter promo code SLIPPER at check out. Customers who order two or more pairs will enjoy free same-location shipping on the additional pairs (after S&H paid for 1st two pairs).
Stompeez became wildly popular last year during the holidays, which unfortunately, overwhelmed the brand. Stompeez is now under new management and, according to a recent press release, has stepped up its production and distribution efforts to ensure it will be able to meet this year’s holiday demand with ease.
