SeatPets Make Car Rides Comfortable {Review & Giveaway}

I quit work at the end of June this year on a Friday, and that evening, my mom and I left Texas with my two girls and the dog in our car. We knew it would take most of the weekend to drive the almost 1,600 miles. We left town at 5PM knowing that after dinner, the kids would fall asleep and we would be able to drive a few hours in peace without impacting them too much or having to stop a lot for food or potty breaks. We made it to Baton Rouge that night around midnight before we decided to stop for a few hours of sleep in a hotel.

Kennedy's car seat was in the middle row, and my mom sat in the chair next to her to help entertain Haley and her. Hershey was back there wherever she could find a comfortable place to lay down. Haley's car seat was in the 3rd row where we had only half of the seat up (the other half was occupied with luggage and the stroller). As Haley fell asleep, her head was rested against her car seat, but after a short while, her head bobbed forward all of the way. We knew it couldn't be comfortable for her, and my mom tried putting one of Kennedy's blankets under her neck, but it didn't really work.

She does not normally ride with the car seat belt on. This was for demonstration purposes to show how the seat belt fit over the car seat in order to attach the SeatPet to it.

What I could have used on that trip (and every other trip that we "strategically" plan at nap time) is something that goes on a seat belt that could be used as a pillow too. That's when I was so excited to hear about SeatPets, adorable and cuddly seat mates that attach around the seat belt and can be used as a pillow. They even have three pockets and two zippered compartments to store car ride stuff so moms don't have to constantly reach back and hand kids toys, snacks and juice. The SeatPet arrived at our house while we were out of town for a few weeks, and the minute we walked in the door, Haley asked me what was in the box. I opened it and showed it to her, and she LOVED it! I didn't have any car rides planned at times while she would be sleeping, so it was a few days before I got to try it out. That didn't matter. She has been carrying it around for days and putting things in the little pockets that are on it. She loves it! She keeps commenting on how soft it is and showing me what she is putting in the pockets. She is even taking it to bed with her!

I finally had a car ride that was mid-day that I knew would be around nap time, so I brought the SeatPet with me. I wasn't sure how it would work since it is made for a normal seat belt and not a car seat. I just strapped Haley in like normal, and then put the car belt over her and the car seat, and the SeatPet fit perfectly! As I predicted, she soon dozed off in the car and I was able to pull over and take a photo of her. Her head wasn't hunched over like normal naps in the car!

The SeatPet is available in three different, adorable monsters. We received the blue one (Airheart), which Haley refers to as her "owl". I love that these are completely washable so you can get any "back seat" mess off of them. They can also attach to the front of a scooter, and come with a removable strap so it can become a "backpack"!
