I love to read and could not wait for my daughter to be born so that I could start reading to her. Through the years there have been several children's books that have given me reason to wonder if I would want to read them to my child. It's not that the stories are bad, in some cases they are classics, it is just that I think a small child might find them scary.
My1story has created "Classics for the 21st Century". What they have done is revamped classic fairy tales, taking out the scary parts and adding in positive lessons for children. They currently have two books available from their series, I Love Cake! and Jack and the Magic Beans. Each book in their series has a plush character to match.
I received I Love Cake!, featuring Lil' Riding Hood & Wolfie, along with a Lil' Riding Hood plush doll. I Love Cake! is a sweet tale of family, friends, cake and sharing. The hard-cover book measures 10 x 10 and has 44 pages with adorable illustrations on every other page. The plush Lil' Riding Hood is approximately 11.5 inches tall and looks just like the illustration, a cute girl with big green eyes and a pink hooded cape.
My1story allows me to feel completely comfortable with the stories I am reading to Mia. Instead of going to bed with the potential for nightmares, Mia will go to sleep with her plush toy by her side and sweet thoughts in her head.
I can't wait to purchase Jack and the Magic Beans along with the Beanie plush. I am looking forward to the release of I Want Candy!!!, This One's Just Right! and Humpty's Hat. We actually play games on the website quite often. My oldest plays while the little ones have doc appts or when we are waiting at restaurant. I love that they are little kid friendly.
