I resisted the on-screen keyboard craze for the longest time. Every time we were thinking of purchasing new phones I would always tell my husband to just get what he thought was good, as long as it had a slide out keyboard. I liked being able to use two thumbs to type (I got pretty dang good at it), being able to actually press the letter I wanted, and keeping my full screen without half of it being chopped off by the on-screen keyboard.
I had to give up the slide out keyboard when I received my new Droid Incredible, and it has been an adjustment for me. I am finally getting used to using swipe to type texts and emails, and it actually isn't that bad. Well, except for when auto correct makes me look like a dummy.
My brother was in town a couple weekends ago and we were planning to meet for dinner. He ended up going home early, though, so we didn't meet up. It was fine, though, because we were at a birthday party and were eating a "ton of food", so I probably wouldn't have been hungry for dinner anyway. Here is a screen shot of our text exchange:
Really? "Tom of good"? If only smartphones could realize how dumb they make us look! Now I know that is nothing compared to others, but I'm sure I'll have a real doozie one of these days.
I do like the swipe because it makes typing a little faster, but it drives me nuts when it changes valid words. I mean, I can hit every letter in the word perfectly, and that phone will still change it. My phone particularly likes the word "cim". Is that even a word? It changes everything to to "cim"..."him", "kids", and even longer words. I can swipe the words exactly perfect, and when I look, I still see "cim". Heh?
So yeah, I totally get the whole auto correct mishap thing now. While I do love my Incredible and the awesome service I get from Verizon Wireless's 4G LTE network, I do miss my slide out keyboard. I didn't have these crazy auto correct issues then.
What has been your worst auto correct mishap? I would love to hear about it!
Disclosure: I am participating in the Verizon Wireless Ambassador program and have been provided with a wireless device and three months of service in exchange for my honest opinions about the product.

I have a love/hate relationship with auto correct!
LOL. Auto correct is a pain sometimes. I've butchered ppl's names and everything because of auto correct.
We've all been there! You're lucky the autocorrect was PG rated!
HEHE this is cute. I agree the smart phone auto correct needs to be a little smarter.
I hate auto correct!! It always makes Twingle twinge. Soooooo annoying when you type in Twingle Mommy a few dozen times a day. Why can't I teach it a word?
Too funny! These auto correct things can really make me laugh hard!
