As you all know, my family is always on the go, so it is important that we start the day off with a healthy breakfast to get us going. If my kids had their way, Rylie would have eggs every day and Bryce would have waffles, both with a side of fresh fruit. While I would love to prepare a hot breakfast for my kids each morning, sometimes there just isn't enough time. On those mornings, we head to the pantry for cereal.
When my kids eat cereal, I want to give them something that is good for them. I look for cereals that contain whole grains and more than just a bunch of sugar. One such cereal is Honey Bunches of Oats. This perfect combination of crispy flakes and tasty, crunchy oat clusters with just a touch of honey is a good source of whole grains with 10g per serving. It is also packed with 9 essential vitamins and minerals.
We recently received the Honey Roasted flavor of Honey Bunches of Oats to try, along with several other summer fun goodies. Everything we needed to start our day off right was included...a box of cereal, four cereal bowls, a set of spoons, and even a tumbler with reusable ice cubes. Since I don't eat breakfast until I get to work, I love that I can now take my milk with me and it will stay cold without getting watered down!
We woke up a little late one morning and decided it would be a great time to let the kids try the Honey Bunches of Oats. Brian poured a bowl for each of them as they made their way to the couch while rubbing the sleep out of their eyes.
Since Rylie has a tree nut allergy, I have to be very careful about the food she eats. When I was first approached for this review, I made a comment about Rylie's allergy and then received a reply telling me that this cereal is perfectly safe for her. I was also told that the plants that do process allergens, such as Pecans, "go through a process where they shut the line down and clean it to make sure that other products produced on that line aren't contaminated." I wish all companies would do this!
Rylie and Bryce like to watch TV while they eat in the mornings, so they sat down behind their TV trays with a bowl of Honey Bunches of Oats and a glass of orange juice. They both enjoyed their breakfast, especially Bryce. He absolutely loved the cereal!
I'm not usually a big cereal fan, but I decided to try it out too. I took some to work with me, along with a banana, and had a great breakfast. I don't like sugary sweet cereal, and while this has a sweet, honey taste to it, it isn't too sweet like some cereals can be. The flakes are crispy, and the oat clusters are yummy! The flavor was so good that I wanted more. When my cereal was gone, I even drank the milk, which is something I never do.
My whole family has decided that Honey Bunches of Oats will now be a staple in our pantry. We can't wait to try some of the other flavors like Strawberry, Cinnamon Bunches, and the new Banana and Blueberry Fruit Blends.
Along with the goodies shown above, I also received this awesome cooler! It is an insulated tote bag so we can bring lunch and snacks when we head to the beach or the water parks. We can also plug an mp3 player into the front and sing along to our favorite songs during our picnic lunches. I have never seen a cooler this cool before!
While summer is winding down for some of you and you are starting to feel a chill in the air, our weather here in Central Florida is just becoming tolerable for outside activities. That is why the other three items we received are great for this time of the year! We can bring on the morning with a set of sun salutations in the form of yoga, or head outside with family and friends for a game of Bocce. The lightweight, super soft shirt is great for our warm days.
Honey Bunches of Oats wants to make summer (or fall!) bunches better for one of my readers! One lucky reader will win a great Honey Bunches of Oats prize pack, just like I received. So tell me, which variety of this deliciously nutritious cereal do you want to try first?
