On a sunny day, there is nothing better than splashing about in the water, and the Cardiff Bay area offers plenty of opportunities to do just that. The Cardiff Bay Water Activity Centre offers a number of water-based activities and events, such as water polo tournaments, jet ski displays and yachting competitions. While you are there, you might want to pay a visit to Cardiff International White Water Centre, where you can experience the thrill of white water rafting in a safe and controlled environment.
For those who want to experience the great outdoors, the Taff Valley Quad Bike & Activity Centre, which is just outside Cardiff, offers quad bike treks through the South Wales countryside, as well as archery, clay pigeon shooting, and gorge walking in the Brecon Beacons. Or, if you fancy seeing the woodlands from a higher vantage point, you could pay a visit to the Go Ape! High Wire Forest Adventure, which offers plenty of woodland thrills such as zip wires, rope ladders, high-wire rope bridges, and tunnels.
While South Wales does enjoy plenty of glorious sunshine during the summer months, the weather can be a little changeable. Thankfully, there are plenty of fun indoor activities that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike. For example, Wales’ biggest indoor climbing centre, Boulders, offers a safe environment in which to learn rock climbing, as well as some challenging ascents for more experienced climbers. The centre provides everything you need to learn how to scale a rock face, including equipment rental and qualified instructors.

Fans of the BBC sci-fi series Doctor Who should definitely check out the Doctor Who Experience at Cardiff Bay. Here you can take a trip through time and space in the TARDIS, and go toe-to-toe with some of TV’s scariest science fiction monsters such as Cybermen, Sontarans, and of course the Daleks. However, if your kids are more interested in science fact than science fiction, then the Techniquest science centre in Cardiff Bay could be just the ticket. Here, children can enjoy learning about the universe via a range of fun experiments, gadgets, and puzzles, as well as events in the Planetarium and Science Theatre.

I've never been to the UK before. Maybe one of these days.
