Document Accidents With NAIC's Free WreckCheck App {Gas Card Giveaway}

WreckCheck

Accidents happen. It is an unfortunate fact, but a fact nonetheless. I have been involved in a few accidents over the years (none of which were my fault), and while they were all minor in nature, they still all caused damage to my vehicles. Even though the accidents I have been involved in were nothing more than fender benders, I was still so shaken up every time that I never remembered what procedures to follow once we were pulled over on the side of the road.

I was rear ended just a few months ago, and that accident shook me up like no other ever had. You see, Rylie was in the car with me. I was so distraught that someone hit me while my little girl was riding with me and I totally spaced out while gathering information from the other driver. When I finally got home and called my insurance company, I left many of their questions unanswered.

I recently learned about a great new tool that takes the guesswork and emotion out of the situation. The free WreckCheck app from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) is designed to help you calmly walk through the steps to take following an auto accident, and it helps you determine what information and details are important when filing an insurance claim, all from your mobile phone. The app even allows you to collect the necessary information on the spot and immediately email it directly to yourself and your insurance agent.

Recent research from NAIC suggests that after an auto accident, many Americans do not know the steps to take or information to share with the other driver involved. Oftentimes, drivers over share personal information that could put them and their families at risk, so downloading the WreckCheck app is a good way to ensure your privacy and the safety of your family.

I wish I would have had this app installed on my phone when I got in that last accident! When you first download the app, you can record all of your information so that you have it all in one place in the event you are ever involved in an accident. It gives you a checklist of every piece of information you will need to document, and allows you to store it all right on your phone. You can even add photos and videos of any damage done to the vehicles involved. This ensures that you have all of the necessary information needed to file your insurance claim.

Every driver out there should install the FREE WreckCheck App on your phone today! You never know when you might need it. The app can be found online at iTunes and Google Play, or by searching "NAIC" at the iTunes store or Android market.

I like that I can record what happened while it's still fresh in my memory.

I liked that it said not to let your license be photographed. Today it is so quick and easy to take a picture of something that you might not, when faced with a stressful event like an accident, think to protect your information!

I like the tip "understand whose coverage pays for which damages."

It can get confusing, on who pays for what. I really like that app.
