When I was a kid, we had these trading cards called "Garbage Pail Kids". I have no clue why we thought they were so awesome, but we had fun collecting them and trading them with our friends. For whatever reason, I guess kids just think garbage is cool.
We now have a new generation of garbage loving kids, and The Trash Pack has made trash collecting even more fun! Named to the 2011 Toys"R"Us Fabulous 15 List, The Trash Pack was one of the hottest toy ranges during the 2011 holiday season. What's not to love about these disgusting "Trashies" like Smelly Sock, Putrid Pizza, Mouldy Milk and Gross Rover?
The Trash Pack came back this spring with all new Series 2 Trashies. There are 168 new Trashies available to collect and trade. Series 2 of The Gross Gang in your Garbage will disgust and entertain new fans and old with Trashies like Poo Pew, Spew-Ghetti, Junkclops and Alley-Gator.
Kids will love collecting these squishable little creatures. They come in foil packs, barrels and eggs so that you don't know which ones you are getting until you open them up. Some of them are very rare, so kids will be even more excited to find one that none of their friends have!
The Trash Pack Collector's Tool makes it easy for kids to keep track of their Trashies. There are pictures and descriptions of all of the Trashies, along with information about their team and how rare they are. Kids can either click "I own" or "I want" and share their lists with friends. I know I would have been all over this as a kid!
Along with the Trashies themselves, there are several different playsets and accessories available. We recently received two of the Trash Pack Mini Playsets for review. These playsets seem like ordinary trash cans, but when kids open them up they will reveal an Atomic Drum Ooze Chamber or a Wheelie Bin Ooze Slide. Each mini playset includes two exclusive Trashies.
The Atomic Drum Ooze Chamber looks like a barrel overflowing with green ooze when it is closed up. When open, kids can lose Atomic Ant or Molecular Mouse in the Atomic Ooze, squish them in the trash compactor or lift them to safety in the elevator.
The Wheelie Bin Ooze Slide is no ordinary trash bin. Kids can grind Ear Wax Ball or Gutter Grub through the grotty cogs, slide them down the ooze slide or flip them from the top of the bin.
Rylie and Bryce were so excited to check out their Trash Pack Mini Playsets. Rylie took ownership of the drum while Bryce played with the bin. Of course they had to check out what each other had. They were making their Trashies "talk" to each other and the sound effects when they were being squished were hilarious.
Bryce especially enjoyed flipping his Trashies off the top of the bin...
...while Rylie enjoyed squishing her Trashies in the compactor.
While I do not necessarily understand why kids are fascinated by garbage, these little playsets were a hit with my kids! The playsets themselves seem durable enough for the rough playing my kids do, and they open and close with ease. The Trashies are like little gummy figures, so they can be squished and stretched over and over again. Rylie and Bryce have had a great time playing with these, and I had fun watching them in imaginative play with their disgusting new friends.
The Trash Pack Mini Playsets are recommended for ages 5 and up. I think they are great for younger kids like Bryce, but the older kids will get more into collecting and trading them with their friends. I love the online tool that kids can use to keep record of their Trashies, especially since there are so many. The Trash Pack website is fun to visit also! You can swat flies why you look around, and there are even games to play.
The Trash Pack Mini Playsets retail for around $12.99 and are available exclusively at Toys"R"Us. Start your gross collection today!
