Say Aloha To Firehouse Subs Pork & Slaw {Review & Giveaway}

Firehouse Subs

Aloha! That's Hawaiian for "Hello", just in case you didn't know. It is also a greeting you might hear at your local Firehouse Subs these days, since Firehouse is going Hawaiian with their new King's Hawaiian Pork & Slaw Sandwich. You may think you are in a tropical paradise when you sink your teeth into this delicious sandwich!

The King's Hawaiian Pork & Slaw includes hardwood pork smoked for 12 hours and Sargento pepper jack cheese, steamed to perfection, then topped with homemade tangy Hawaiian coleslaw piled high on a King's Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet sandwich bun. Yum!

Pork and Slaw Sandwich

You may remember my post about my dinner with the Firehouse Subs founders, Robin and Chris Sorensen. I was already a huge fan of Firehouse Subs before that dinner, and it was so exciting to meet the founding brothers and learn more about their company. If you missed that post, and aren't familiar with Firehouse Subs, you should check it out. Go ahead, I'll wait.

OK, now that you have read my last post and learned more about this great restaurant and their Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, which is dedicated to improving the life-saving capabilities of emergency services, let me tell you about my latest Firehouse Subs gathering.

I met up with my good blogging friends, Becca from Mama B and Suz from Not Your Typical Mommy, to try the new Pork & Slaw Sandwich. We sat down with Mike Kelly, the Area Representative, and Scott Anthony, the largest Firehouse franchisee who owns several restaurants in the Central Florida area. Since Becca had never been to a Firehouse Subs before (say what???), we chatted with them for a while about the restaurant and the variety of menu items offered.

We really enjoyed talking with Mike and Scott, but after a while of staring at the picture of the Pork & Slaw Sandwich, I was done talking and ready to eat! When my sandwich was brought to me, the round bun caught me off guard just a bit. It wasn't a sub like every other sandwich served there. It was on King's Hawaiian bread that was specially made for Firehouse.

After just one bite of this sandwich, I was in love. Yes, in love with a sandwich. You will be too once you try it! The pork had a nice smokey flavor that was balanced with the sweet taste of the coleslaw. Add in the pepper jack cheese and the sweet taste of the King's Hawaiian bread, and this was the perfect sandwich. The different flavors blended together so well and kept me wanting more. This was no little sandwich either. I could barely finish it, but you know I did!

Once we finished with our sandwiches and washed them down with our drinks made from the super-fun Coke Freestyle soda machine, Mike and Scott brought us a variety of their fresh-baked cookies for dessert. Yum again!

Firehouse Subs Cookies

If you haven't tried the new King's Hawaiian Pork & Slaw Sandwich, you will want to do so very soon. This is only available for a limited time. I guess we could all get together and beg Robin and Chris to keep it around. Maybe I'll start a petition. Hey, you never know!

The fun doesn't end with just this awesome sandwich, though. If you love the sandwich as much as I do, you can proclaim your love for the Pork & Slaw and enter to win a trip to Hawaii!!! Just submit a 90-second video, and you could win a trip for two to the Hilton Waikoloa Village on the Big Island of Hawaii! Need some ideas? Check out this funny video...

Robin and Chris are some seriously fun guys, so you will definitely want to get creative!

I think I have proclaimed my love for this sandwich, don't you think? It really is THAT good. Have you tried it yet? What do you think?

I've never actually had a sub or any other sandwich but I do stop by Firehouse Subs when I'm in Asheville to buy Firehouse sauce to use when I grill at home. We eat it on just about anything you can put on the grill. It definitely adds an awesome flavor and 'zing' if you will to ribs!
