Suburban Farm

So do you all remember my post from last week in which I mentioned Chloe's new friend Moo? Moo is my brother's pig. Yes, pig. Moo is allowed in the house, but spends most of the time in Danny's backyard.

Chloe and Moo

When I first shared that photo, I carefully cropped out the rest of his backyard. I have decided since then that this is too nasty funny to not share. You see, he has the start of what I have been calling a "Suburban Farm" in his backyard. Not only is there a pig, but there are ducks, and frogs that are the size of small dogs.

So where does the wildlife live? Well, my friends, they live in his pool pond.

Ducks in the pool

Yes, that used to be a pool. Gross, huh? He had his pool refinished a couple of years ago with Pebble Tec, which is a super expensive finish. While I didn't care for the black color of the finish because of the fact that it already made the water look like a swamp, it was kind of cool. For some reason, though, he could NOT keep the chemicals balanced and was spending a lot of time and money trying to maintain the pool. He eventually just gave up and let it go.

So my brother now has a pond in his backyard. It is beyond disgusting, and actually scares me a bit. Who knows what is hiding beneath the dark, murky waters. Hell, an alligator could be living in that mess as far as we know.

While we were over there visiting that weekend, someone thought it would be fun to let Rylie feed the ducks, so the next thing I know, she is out there throwing bread into the pool.

When I saw her out there, I had this vision of the pig running by and knocking her into the swamp. I would certainly need a hazmat suit to decontaminate her body of the filth, that's for sure.

So tell me, do you have any kind of weirdness in your backyard? I don't think it gets much worse than this!

LOL that is too funny. I had a friend in FL who had HUGE lizards that lived in their pool. No weirdness in my yard haha

Very funny. We used to have a garden pond in our backyard, I loved it. It was actually a selling point for us when we bought our house. Then the fountain broke, the pump broke, the liner got a tear, all the fish kept dying. I felt like it was a money pit. So about 2 summers ago we filled it in with concrete and extended our patio. I was sad but we just couldn't keep dumping money in the pond and with small children I felt like it was dangerous.

That's too funny! If only we HAD a backyard. We're looking for a house, but for now we are still in an apartment-style condo. It's too small for our growing little family. But we had a large backyard when I was a kid. We kept sheep, chickens, and of course A PIG that looks incredibly similar to your brother's! (perhaps a little bigger/fatter) I'm terrified of pigs and I hated him, though I'm not sure why.

Lol. Nothing out of the ordinary in my backyard, we've only lived here 6 months do we don't have much clutter either. I've always wanted animals but the backyard here is so very small... So no chance :)

That is too funny! I wouldn't want to jump in that pool! Love the pig, though!
