Messy Fun With Crayola Outdoor Colored Bubbles {Review & Giveaway}

Crayola

Kids love to make messes! At least my kids do. If you don't believe me, just come check out what my house looks like at the end of a weekend. It looks like two little tornadoes blew right through here. I always say that a messy house is a fun house!

Kids also love bubbles! It amazes me how much fun they can have with some soapy solution and a wand. Crayola found a way to combine messy fun and bubble fun with Crayola Outdoor Colored Bubbles. When these new bubbles were launched, some parents were surprised at how messy they really were, so Crayola acted on that feedback and created a new version that keeps all the fun for kids and makes clean up easier for parents.

We were recently asked if we would like to try the new and improved Crayola Outdoor Colored Bubbles, and my whole family enthusiastically said Yes! We received an Outdoor Bubble Launcher and a 3-pack of Outdoor Colored Bubbles, and Rylie and Bryce couldn't wait to have some messy bubble fun!

Crayola Outdoor Colored Bubbles

The outdoor colored bubbles come in three vibrant colors - Unmellow Yellow, Purple Pizzazz and Fuchsia. We were told that they "magically rub off skin", and will clean up from most outdoor surfaces and clothing. Before we set out to put them to the test, we read Crayola's tips to get the most out of our messy play:
  • Dress for Mess. Wear washable play clothes and shoes. It's best to not wear suede, leather or any other material that can't be washed.
  • Play Outside. An open grassy area is best away from new concrete, decks and porous surfaces like marble. Don't use at formal events like weddings.
  • Rub skin to remove color.
  • Launder clothes promptly with water and detergent. Repeat washing may be needed.
  • Hose off outdoor surfaces like sidewalks and driveways to wash away color.
Once we had some colored bubbles hooked up to the bubble launcher, we got to playing! The bubble launcher is kid powered and does not require batteries, so Rylie took the first turn at launching bubbles.

Rylie launching colored bubbles

She did great with launching the bubbles, but then Daddy took over to really get them going. The bubble launcher was easy to use, and within seconds, the kids were trying to catch the bubbles and were covered with bright purple spots!

Bryce catching purple bubbles

The purple bubbles were indeed very vibrant! They looked so pretty sitting all over our yard.

Purple Bubbles

I do have to warn you that not only do the bubble chasers get messy, the bubble launcher will get pretty messy too!

Brian after launching bubbles

The bubbles that came in the 3-pack had wands in them, and Bryce took a few turns blowing his own bubbles with the wand.

Bryce blowing colored bubbles

See that mess all over his face? I'm happy to report that it wiped right off and he didn't end up looking like a grape.

The kids had such a fun time running through the bubbles and getting covered with bright purple, yellow and pink spots! They requested quite a few color changes and it was easy to pop one color off and put a new one on the bubble launcher.

Bryce decided that he needed a turn with the bubble launcher, and even his little two-year-old hands were able to operate it. The hand crank was very easy to use. He was quite serious about his bubble launching!

Bryce launching colored bubbles

So about the mess. These fun, colorful bubbles do make a lot of it, which was fine with my family. The bubble launcher does seem to drip a lot, and since it was an especially windy day, the solution was everywhere!

We all had a great time playing with the Outdoor Colored Bubbles! By the time we were done, the kids were covered in bright colored spots, and they loved it!

Bryce after playing with messy colored bubbles

After we were done playing, Rylie and Bryce went in the tub and their clothes went into the washer. I washed their clothes on a normal cycle with a Tide Stain Release (just in case) and to my surprise, those white shirts came perfectly clean! The kids were squeaky clean too. Clean up was super easy! We didn't notice any staining on the sidewalks, but it rained later that afternoon, so we didn't have to hose them down.

If your kids love messy fun like my kids do, they will love the new Crayola Outdoor Colored Bubbles! These will be perfect for summer time, when we can all just jump into the pool after we get messy!

I'd love one of the double-easels with various surfaces, clips to hold your own paper, a tray / paint pot holder to keep things simpler, in reach, and organized....best yet if it's one of the ones that folds for easier storage. Working on closer-to-vertical surfaces is actually great for helping to develop my son's tone and motor control, and his therapists recommended that we get him an easel like this, when we can.
