Do you all remember the scene in which she is giving the children medicine because they had been outside in the rain? Just in case you don’t, I’ll give you a little recap…
She pours the medicine from the bottle onto three spoons. Jane takes hers first and exclaims “Lime Cordial! Delicious!” Michael then takes his and says “Strawberry. Mmmmm.” Mary Poppins gulps hers down and then says “Rum Punch! Quite Satisfactory.” She then hiccups in true alcoholic form.
So the other night we were at Chick Fil A and the kids were playing on the playground after dinner. A little boy came out there and had a red drink and Bryce asked what it was. I told him it was fruit punch. Of course then my kids had to have fruit punch. Brian took Rylie and Bryce inside and bought them both a fruit punch. They came back out to the playground and were running around with their drinks in hand, and every time Bryce would take a sip he would say “Rum Punch!”
Thank you, Mary Poppins. Now all of the other moms that were at Chick Fil A that night either think I'm an alcoholic, or that I serve drinks to my kids. That's just supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!

Too funny! :)
Ha! I read the first half of this and was like, Where in the world is this going?
Good old Mary Poppins. I haven't watched that in forever and I'm sure my kids have never seen it... now I'm thinking I might not rush to have them watch it...
lmao! You just made me crack right up. I used to love that movie as a kid too! ;)
Lol that is so funny!! Oh the things kids pick up on :)
LOL...out of the mouth of babes!
It would be tough to explain that everytime they say it in front of someone who wonders????
LOL, I love that movie.
I was just looking up the expression rum punch because someone just described my beautiful new grandchild with the expression "rum punch". I'd forgotten it came from Mary Poppins. Made me smile!! Sometimes as adults we read too much into things said in children's stories, which is now why some parents have become overly vigilant as to what their children watch, read and hear. Personally I think that it's a dangerous thing to be overly vigilant---children need to be exposed to many different things, and given the tools to decided what is good and what is bad. I have never censored what my children have read or watched, and they are now all fine grown men with firm opinions about what is right and what is wrong.
