I wanted to get this posted yesterday, but by the time Sunday evening rolled around and the kids were in bed, I was way too exhausted to even type! We had a super busy, super fun weekend, and I was so sad to see it end. I have decided that in my next life, I want to come back as my kids. Why? Because they have FUN!
We started out the weekend with back to back birthday parties on Saturday. The first party was at Monkey Joe's where we celebrated Lucas' first birthday! Lucas is the youngest son of Jennifer, the new writer here on this blog. You know, that cute little blue eyed boy that you have seen in several reviews lately?
The kids had a great time at Monkey Joe's bouncing in the bounce houses...
...and hanging out with Monkey Joe himself!
A party isn't complete without cake (and bonus ice cream at this party) and good friends. Rylie had fun hanging out with her friend Adam, who is the son of one of my good blogging buddies, Mama B. What a cutie, right?
And speaking of cuties, here is the birthday boy himself enjoying his cake. Thanks to his mom for the picture!
I missed the cake smash because I was in the bathroom with a kid who takes way too long, so by the time I got a picture of him, he was about DONE for the day. Happy Birthday Lucas!
We had to leave that party a little early to head across town to the next one to celebrate Nathan's 4th birthday. This one was at a gym where the kids had fun jumping on trampolines and clowning around in bounce houses.
After they played in the gym for a while, all the kids gathered around to sing Happy Birthday to Nathan...
...and then Rylie and Bryce had MORE cake! There's nothing like two pieces of cake for lunch, huh? Yep, mom of the year here!
After the parties we headed over to the mall where I was treated like a criminal at Gymboree for trying to return some stuff without a receipt. Which reminds me that I need to make a call to their corporate office. We had a much nicer experience in The Children's Place, and then stopped in M&M's World where the kids got to make their own bags of M&M's with their color choices. Yes, we paid way too much for 2 small bags of M&M's, but hey, Rylie and Bryce enjoyed picking out their own colors. It was pretty cool! We had to wake the kids up when we got home to eat dinner. They were exhausted.
Apparently Saturday wore us all out because we all slept in on Sunday until like 10:30. We headed out for lunch around 1, and then Bryce and I headed to Target for some undies, and then over to the mall. Rylie decided she wanted to run errands with Brian. When Bryce and I got to the mall, we noticed a butterfly exhibit where you can actually go in and touch the butterflies, so we ran and got Rylie from the grocery store and went back to the mall.
Rylie is fascinated with butterflies lately, so she LOVED the exhibit. She made friends with one of the butterflies who wouldn't leave her hand, and spent a few seconds with several others. All I had was my cell phone, so you'll have to excuse the crappy pictures.
Bryce wouldn't hold the butterflies, and honestly, they creeped me out a little bit too, so we left all of the interaction to Rylie.
After we saw the butterflies the kids got some ice cream while I had a coffee, and they thoroughly enjoyed every bite of it...especially Bryce!
By the time we got home, it was time for dinner, baths and bed, so needless to say, nothing got done around my house again over the weekend. Hey, a messy house is a fun house, right?
OK, so now for the exciting potty news...
Bryce wore either underwear or Pull Ups all weekend, and didn't have ANY accidents! There were a couple incidents where the pee didn't quite make it down into the toilet, and once where it even ended up on me (thank goodness we were home!) but he was on the potty, and that is what counts. Apparently I know nothing about teaching little boys how to go in the potty. LOL
Anyway - when we were at the mall we ran into the owner of the daycare and I was telling her how well Bryce was doing and she said to send him to school in underwear with 3 sets of spare clothes and we would see how it went. So that is what I did. I am so proud to report that when I picked him up, he was wearing the same clothes he had on when I dropped him off! Yay Bryce!
I can't believe how easy this has been so far! If you had asked me two weeks ago if I thought Bryce would be potty trained any time soon, I would have said no way. But it looks like we are DONE with diapers in this house, except for bed time. He has been waking up dry, but I'm not ready to ditch the diapers completely yet. Trust me, I know there will be accidents, but he has done so well so far that I don't want to put him back in diapers, or even Pull Ups, because I don't want to confuse him. This is just so crazy! He is going to be even easier to potty train than Rylie was!
I feel like such a lucky mom. Both of my kids started sleeping through the night at like a month old, and it looks like they were both easy to potty train. Wow! Now if I could just get them to stop fighting...
