Ahhh the birthday presents! The best part of the birthday, right? Well, for Rylie, that hasn't been the case over the last couple of years. In fact, it usually took a few days to open all of her presents, because she just didn't seem to care. Perhaps 4 is the age, though, that kids really get into presents, because Rylie was definitely excited about her presents this year.
When we got home from her birthday party she immediately wanted to open her presents, so we got them all out of the car and brought them all out into the family room. I was lucky enough to get this picture before the madness ensued...
Now, I like for the gift opening to happen slowly and calmly so that I can write down who got her what in order to send out thoughtful thank you cards. Unfortunately, when the party hosts took her gifts out to the car, many of the cards fell off the packages, so I was already annoyed that I wasn't going to be able to properly thank everyone for each gift. Little did I know at that time I wouldn't be able to properly thank anyone!
The gift opening started relatively calm. She opened one present, and then two...
...and then that is when it got nuts. Once she took some presents out of a bag, she apparently realized how quickly she could get everything out of the other bags. She had the contents of each bag out before we could even grab the cards to see who they were from. She was so engrossed in her gift opening that she didn't even care that her brother was helping her.
She was like a little Tasmanian devil! I mean just look at her with the crazed look in her eyes!
By this time, my list was long gone. I gave up. There was no way I could keep up with her, and I decided that rather than stress myself out by trying, and ruin her fun, I just enjoyed watching her tear through all of her gifts. She was quite the happy little girl when it was all said and done.
So no, I really have no idea who got her what. And as much as I would like to send out personalized thank you cards and thank everyone for the thoughtful gifts, it just isn't going to happen. I did, however, order some super cute photo thank you cards today, so at least I will be sending something out, which is more than I did for Bryce's party. That's a different story for a different day, though.
I can't forget to show you her "big" present from Mama and Uncle Danny. She actually got this adorable little bicycle the night before her birthday.
I guess that is it for the birthday posts, and time to close out yet another chapter of Rylie's life. I can't wait to see what year 5 is going to bring!

heheh i LOVE that crazed look on her face! you really got some awesome photos! maybe you should use this post as a Thank You to everyone. :D
No parent fail, it is called enjoying being a parent. No need for personalized cards. A thank you for coming is good enough.
I think it's hilARious! So much we try to control all aspects of our kid's lives and be "proper". We forget to allow them to delight in their lives. Reminds me of all the times I try to stage pictures at events, on vacations, etc and it ends up taking away from their moments...and the BEST shots are always real life snapshots "stolen" when they arent even looking. Riley looks like she had the time of her life and that is NOT being wild or improper...she was being a kid and you so did the right thing, in my opinion. The allinone card is a great idea to send off. She will have plenty of time to learn manners and proper thank you ettiquette...um, I have 12 and 14 year old's who still need some shining up in this dept. Hooray for being 4 and being allowed to go a little crazy! Wow, she looks like such a big girl on that bike. What a happy time, and great memory for your little sweetie!
Oh my gosh, so much fun! She made out like a bandit!!!
Love that first picture of her with the presents *before the chaos ensued LOL*
Wow! Rylie will be busy playing with new toys for days!! :)
Great idea to send out thank you cards anyway.... parents will totally understand and appreciate your thoughtfulness :)
Ok, I just can't help to laugh at her 'Tazmanian Devil' face!! She it too much. I am the same way when it comes to opening gifts. But, sadly, our kids are not like us. They want to tear through everything. Listen, she had fun and that is the most important thing!!
Omg! Does she not look exactly like you in that 1st picture?
She is so cute! Happy Birthday to Rylie! I love the last picture of her on her new bike!
