Back To Work

My Christmas vacation is over, and I am back to work today. Booooo! While I didn't get much of my to-do list accomplished, I sure did enjoy the time off.

I kept the kids home from school last week, which is the reason I didn't get anything done that I wanted to. It is literally impossible to get anything done with them home. That is OK, though. I thoroughly enjoyed my time off with them. Well, at least most of the time. I loved watching them play together, which is something I don't get to see very often. We are always so busy on the weekends that we aren't home much, so it was nice to just have some downtime at home.

Rylie and Bryce got along well together for the most part. There were times when I didn't hear a peep from them, and I actually got a little concerned. They would lock themselves in one of their rooms (we have a "key" above every door), and each time I checked on them, they were just playing nicely. Of course when they realized that I was watching, all hell would break loose and one or both of them would end up in time out. I learned very quickly that I was better off just leaving them alone unless someone was already screaming.

My mom was here with us during my time off, and I loved having her around. The kids absolutely love spending time with her, so I was able to have some time to get things done, or at least take a shower without an audience. When Mama is here, though, life is a little different for the kids. They get to stay up late, eat more junk food than normal, and pretty much get their own way. That is what grandparents are for, right? It should be fun trying to acclimate them back to "real life".

My mom got the kids out of the house for a fun day of movies and playing at McDonald's so that Brian and I could get a few things done last Friday. Brian cleaned the carpet in the family room while I started disassembling the tree. He finished putting the tree away and we got our front room back in order. Of course it is back looking like total chaos now, but that just means that the kids had fun!

We caught up on some TV shows, and best of all, we caught up on some sleep! Rylie slept with my mom, and since she is the early riser in our house, my mom got up with her and let Brian and I sleep. The rest of us rolled out of bed between 9 and 10 most days. Ahhhhhh. That was nice.

Sadly, vacation is over, and life is going back to "normal", whatever that is. I really need to play the lottery, because I could definitely get used to this stay-at-home stuff!
