Successful Surgery, Friday Funnies And Five Questions

Happy Friday! It has been a busy blogging week again here. Are you all enjoying all of the great giveaways that Colleen and I are hosting during our Countdown to Black Friday event? We are having a lot of fun with it, and we hope you are too!

Chloe

Yesterday was a stressful day for me. Chloe, my sweet old golden retriever and the only pet we have left, had to have surgery. She had this big mass on her tail that was the most disgusting thing I have ever seen, so we had it removed. And since she was going to be under anesthesia for that, we had her teeth cleaned too. Due to the horrible year I have had regarding my pets, I was so nervous for her and spent most of the day having heart palpitations. She did great, though, and is back home and back to normal...minus the nasty thing on her tail that made me gag whenever I saw it. Blech. Now we are waiting for pathology to come back, because the vet didn't like the looks of it, and because of the rapid growth that it had. Since she is a golden retriever, and she had a brother that most likely had cancer, her odds of getting cancer are unfortunately very high. We are hoping that isn't the case right now and that it was just a benign growth.

Silly Rylie

See that silly girl up there? She is always coming up with the funniest things to say. Sometimes she doesn't even realize she is being funny, and is just expressing her thoughts and observations, but some of her thoughts are funny to us. Last weekend her friend Cole spent the night, and while I was out here working on the computer, they were in her room goofing off. I was tuning them out for the most part and wondering how they were even awake, but I heard her tell Cole something that made me giggle. He said something about her mommy and daddy going to sleep and she said "Oh, they don't go to sleep. One of them works on the computer and the other one does dishes."

My kid thinks I don't sleep. Apparently after she goes to bed I just sit here on the computer all night. Although after the last couple of weeks, I can see why she would think that. She probably sees the bags under my eyes! It is just funny to me how kids observe our behaviors and draw their own conclusions.

Sleepy Bryce

Awwww. Isn't that cute? Pictures of little ones sleeping are always so precious. What is really precious about that picture, though, are the shoes. Look again. Go ahead, click on it to get the full size picture. Now do you see why that classifies as a Friday funny? Ahhh, the joys of having an older sister to share clothes with! LOL

And speaking of silly Bryce...he is on quite the chicken nugget kick lately. When I picked them up from school Tuesday, his teacher told me that he wanted to go to Chick Fil A. As soon as he saw me he said "Chicken nuggets?" When I told him that daddy didn't make chicken nuggets that night, he was NOT happy. So apparently Wednesday his teacher told him that she went to Chick Fil A and she repeated their conversation back to me...

Bryce: Chicken nuggets?
Teacher: No, I had a salad.
Bryce: Did you get red dip?
Teacher: No, I had a salad.
Bryce: Did you get yellow dip? (He likes both red and yellow dip with his nuggets.)
Teacher: No, I had a salad.

At this point, Bryce realized that all of his friends had come over to hear the conversation, and decided to show off. He started running around the room yelling "Chicken Nuggets! Chicken Nuggets! Chicken Nuggets!" over and over again. I don't know what is with him and his chicken nuggets, but he was very happy that we went to Chick Fil A last night. Hey, it is pretty much the only meal he will eat, so at least once a week I get some food into him!

OK, I know this post is ridiculously long, but since I promised to participate in Five Question Friday, here it is...

Five Question Friday

1. Do you have a go to song that always puts you in a good mood?

No, not really. If I'm cranky, though, I like to hear music with a good beat that makes me want to dance. Those types of songs will usually put me in a better mood.

2. Are you a real Christmas tree kinda person or do you go with a real fake one?

Fake. All the way. First off, we live in Florida, so real Christmas trees don't last very long. We also have kids. And a dog. And up until this year, we had cats. The cats used the tree skirt as a bed in the past, so I can only imagine what they would have done with a real tree. Oh, and then there is the smell of pine that makes me want to gag.

3. What are you thankful for?

After this past year that I have had, one might think I would have a hard time figuring out what I am thankful for. However, I know that I still have so many blessings in my life that I cherish every day.

My husband. He is literally the most wonderful man I have ever met. He is a 100% hands on dad. He cooks. He cleans. He puts up with the hours I spend on the computer. And he loves the kids and me with all of his heart.

My children. Those two little stinkers light up my life in so many ways. When we try to think back about how our lives were before Rylie and Bryce, we honestly don't even remember.

My mom. She does so much for us and is always there when we need her. She puts our needs above her own most of the time, and I am forever grateful for all that she does.

The list goes on, and this post is already long enough, so those are the top three for right now.

4. Which fashion fad from the past do you wish you could wear today?

Hmmmm. Tight rolled jeans, maybe? Naaaahhhh, skinny jeans look ridiculous enough.

I honestly can't think of any fashion fad from the past that I wish I could wear today. I wasn't in style back then, and I probably wouldn't be today either.

5. Do you wait until the "low fuel" light comes on before you fill up the gas tank?

Yes. And then I ask Mr. Wonderful to go fill up my tank. I HATE getting gas. I wish someone would start a mobile refueling service where they would just come in the middle of the night and fill up my tank. I would pay for it in a heartbeat!

Have a great weekend, my friends!

So glad everything seemed to go well with Chloe and sending lots and lots of good thoughts for benign results!!

I'm so not looking forward to a stupid real tree and a mobile toddler this year. Ugh.

I'm so with you on the gas thing. I usually just ask my husband to drive somewhere when I need gas, then he conveniently has to fill up. He's onto me, though. Last night when we went to take my daughter to karate he said, "This is usually the day we put gas in your car. Oh look, the light isn't on. You can make it another day." Funny guy. I'll make him drive to the grocery store tonight when I get home from work.

That picture of Bryce is most adorable! We don't have a dog but my parents have three that (2 of them) I grew up with. They are getting older and older and I know I'll miss them once they pass because they were in so many great memories.
*I'm all for a fake tree. Here, there is so much opportunity to get real trees (we have plenty in our backyard) but I love fake because they are so much less work and we can keep it year after year.

I am so glad the surgery went well and that all is good on the pet front! We all know your sad history this year with your animals :( I am cracking up at Rylie and her comment. It is so true that our kiddos are so aware of what is happening around them, although we may not always think so...lol. And by the way, I didn't see you mention my name on your 'things you are thankful for' list!! And I never have gas either...ha,ha!
