What is Klout? - A Late Night Friday Funny

61. That is my current Klout score. If you are a blogger, then you know what I'm talking about. Or at least you should know what I'm talking about.

If you are not a blogger or a serious tweeter, you may not have heard of Klout yet. According to the Klout website, The Klout Score measures influence on a scale of 1 to 100. Basically, it is a measure of how much a person influences others through social media. It analyzes your twitter and Facebook feeds to find out which topics you influence others about. Right now, I am influential in topics like Blogging, Children, Disney and even Sandwiches. Yes, Sandwiches. In fact, I am currently in 4th place, just under Subway, as having the most +K in Sandwiches.

So what does this all mean? Well, in the blogging world, it is the newest rating system that potential sponsors look at when determining your online reach. Out are the days when a company asked what your GPR was, now they want to know what your Klout score is. The higher your score, the better your online reach supposedly is.

Oh, and there are perks too! Companies give you free stuff so that you will talk about them. So far I have received a $50 gift card to Dick's Sporting Goods, two $10 gift cards to Subway (that makes sense, of course, because I'm so influential about sandwiches), some Secret deodorant and a sample of Axe hair gel. The perks are based on your score, along with the topics you are influential about.

My husband saw me giving some blogging friends some "+K" last night and asked me what it was all about. After I explained it, he still didn't really see what the big deal was. When I got home this evening he had this silly grin on his face and said "I found a cool video you might want to see." I thought it was pretty hilarious, so I just wanted to share...
