Create A Just-Like-Me Doll With My Twinn {Review}

My Twinn

Rylie loves dolls, and I don't say "loves" lightly. We have all types of babies and "friends" at our house, along with plenty of accessories for them like strollers, a high chair and a bassinet. She isn't too picky about her dolls, and likes them in all shapes, colors and sizes. When I asked Rylie if she wanted a doll that looked just like her, you should have seen the excitement in her eyes!

Rylie and I recently got the chance to create a My Twinn doll. These dolls are 23" dolls that are designed by artisans to create the doll of your child's dreams! You specify certain features such as eye and hair color, and then the artisans will create a likeness of your child by hand painting features on the My Twinn doll face.

It was so easy to create Rylie's doll. I had her sit with me so I could match everything as best as I could, and even brought Daddy up for a second opinion. The first step is color selections. We selected Very Fair for skin, Light Blue for eyes, and Dark Blonde for hair.

My Twinn Color Selection

Step 2 is to customize the hair. For the length we selected High Back. Rylie's hair is not real straight, but because the Straight with Slight Wave option looked very thick, we selected Very Straight. Rylie actually asked for her doll to have a Ponytail, since that is how she normally wears her hair, but I didn't want it to get that ponytail bump in it, so we went with Leave Hair Down. I figured I could put the doll's hair up if we wanted to. We also chose No Bangs, since Rylie has never had bangs.

My Twinn Hair Selection

The third step was to choose the outfit. Now, when we designed our doll, only the top three outfits were available. I, personally, loved the Sweet Dreams U Pajamas, and I was all set to buy Rylie the matching PJs. Rylie had different plans for her doll, though, and it didn't surprise me one bit. I knew as soon as she saw the Black Satin Print Dress that she would want that one, and sure enough, that is the one she chose. Since Rylie is very picky about clothes and any type of tight elastic, I decided not to purchase the matching outfit for her, because I didn't think she would wear it.

My Twinn Outfit Selection

The next step is to indicate whether or not you want freckles, birthmarks or moles added to your doll. Since Rylie does not have any of those, we did not select that option. You can also add accessories such as earrings, sunglasses and hair care items, and since Rylie had just recently gotten her ears pierced, we had to add the earrings.

Once you make all of your selections and place your order, you are then prompted to upload up to three photos of your child. The artisans will use those photos to create a likeness of your child on the doll's face.

Rylie was so excited to receive her doll! I was barely able to get a picture of the doll by herself. The My Twinn doll is beautiful!

Rylie's My Twinn Doll

The dress ended up being much prettier than I thought it would be, and Rylie just loved the whole ensemble. She has asked several times for a dress just like it, and I have a feeling that Santa will be bringing her one for Christmas this year.

Now for the real test. Does the doll resemble Rylie?

My Twinn Close Up

I think she does. The doll's eyes are a little brighter than Rylie's, but the skin and hair color are almost an exact match! The doll's lips are a little fuller than Rylie's. I tried to get her to stand sideways and not smile, but she's 3, so I'm sure you all know how well that went.

The nose and the cheeks look pretty similar, don't you think? Oh, and of course the earrings match! Rylie was very excited that her doll had earrings too! Overall, I think the My Twinn definitely resembles Rylie.

The doll came in a box and was tied to it with the same ribbon that she has in her hair, so Rylie had her dad fashion a similar headband for her so they could really look alike!

The quality of the My Twinn doll is excellent! She is put together very well. I love the 23" size too. She is definitely more like a "friend" than just a baby doll.

The My Twinn dolls retail for $149, which I find a little high. I would much rather see this doll around $100 instead. I don't think the price is outrageous, though, and the quality of the doll, and the fact that it is handcrafted to look like your child, makes it worth more than just an average, off-the-shelf doll. There are several accessories available for these dolls. You can purchase different outfits, carrying cases, and even furniture!

My Twinn dolls would make a great gift this holiday season for the doll lover in your life! For more information, and to start designing your very own My Twinn, visit www.mytwinn.com, or check them out on Facebook.

Disclosure: All opinions are my own. I received the My Twinn doll at no cost for the purpose of this review. No other compensation was received.
