Life Insurance. That is a topic that a lot of people don't want to discuss. No one wants to think about what would happen if their time on earth were to come to an abrupt end. Our days are much more pleasant when they are filled with thoughts about watching our kids grow up, and all of the excitement that life will bring. But what if? What if something happens to you? Have you thought about how your family will manage?
Once we had kids, Brian and I had that "what-if?" discussion. It was certainly not a fun discussion, but one that needed to happen. We both then purchased life insurance through our employers, and we met with a lawyer to have wills drawn up. We are a two income family, and if something happened to one of us, the other would most likely suffer a financial hardship. There are immediate needs to consider, such as funeral costs, and there are also the long term needs for our children like cars, college and weddings. We both now have ample life insurance coverage that will protect us if the unthinkable should ever happen.
The Life and Health Insurance Foundation for Education (LIFE) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping consumers make smart insurance decisions to safeguard their families’ financial futures. There is a growing problem of too many families not having adequate life insurance protection. 11 million U.S. households with children under age 18 have no coverage, according to the industry research group LIMRA. In an effort to try and solve that problem, LIFE has created the "Insure Your Love Picture Mosaic".
The "Insure Your Love Picture Mosaic" is designed to recognize and celebrate those who have made the responsible decision to protect their loved ones by owning life insurance, while also introducing them to a larger community of others who have made the same choice. You can upload up to 20 photos of people whose financial future you have safeguarded by choosing to purchase life insurance.
If you are protecting the financial future of your loved ones, I encourage you to upload their photos to this mosaic. It is easy to do. Simply upload your photos through LIFE's Facebook page and add a caption describing who is in the photo and/or why it's meaningful to you. Your submission will be reviewed and added to the picture mosaic within 2 to 3 days, if approved.
By uploading your photo, you will also be helping out a great cause. For each photo uploaded, $1 will be donated to the LIFE Lessons Scholarship Program, which provides tuition assistance to students who have lost a parent and are struggling to achieve their dream of a college education.
I have made that important decision to protect my family in the event of a crisis, what about you?
