Starbucks Bistro Boxes: Wholesome On-The-Go Meal Options {Review}

Starbucks Coffee

I am always on the go. I feel like I never stop.Since I work full time outside of the house, our weekdays zoom by like a big blur. The weekends go by even quicker! We are always running to a birthday party or a playdate, or just trying to get out of the house for a while so the kids don't go stir crazy. When we leave the house, we always pack snacks and drinks for the kids, and possibly even a sandwich and some fruit if we are going to be out during lunch time. For some reason, I never think about packing anything for myself, and us moms need snacks and healthy, wholesome meals while we are out and about, just as much as our kids do.

Starbucks has a new line of Bistro Boxes available that provides on-the-go moms a healthy snack or meal option. The Bistro Boxes currently come in eight different options, and each one contains daily essentials of protein, vegetables, fruits and whole grains. They are all under 500 calories too! So whether you just want a snack like the Cheese & Fruit or Protein Bistro Boxes, or more of a meal like the Chicken & Hummus or Chicken Lettuce wrap Bistro Boxes, you will be getting delicious, good-for-you food.

I try to take my lunch to work with me during the week, but some of our mornings are a little too hectic and I end up running out of time to get anything together. I'm sure most of you know what I am talking about, and if you don't, you must tell me your secret to calm, easy mornings! If I do end up having to go out for lunch, I usually sacrifice nutrition and go for convenience. Let's face it, fast food is usually quick and inexpensive. However, I have worked so hard to lose weight, and I don't want to gain it back because of my unhealthy lunch choices. So when I forgot my lunch last week, I headed to Starbucks to try out a Bistro Box.

This was my first experience with the Bistro Boxes, and at first glance, I was very impressed. There were four or five different varieties available, and they all looked very fresh. I had a hard time deciding which one to try, and ultimately went with the Chipotle Chicken Wraps Bistro Box. Since it was a hot day, and I was definitely in the mood for a refreshing drink, I also ordered a Tazo Shaken Iced Passion Tea Lemonade to go with my lunch. I was very busy, so I decided to head back to work and eat my lunch at my desk.

The Chipotle Chicken Wraps Bistro Box comes with whole-wheat tortillas, white chicken strips, pepper jack cheese, lime-cilantro slaw and tomato avocado salsa. There was even a piece of dark chocolate included so I could end my meal on a sweet note! Everything is in different compartments, and the package is resealable.

I was honestly surprised at how soft the tortillas were. I almost figured they would be dry and would crack when I unfolded them, but they didn't. I was able to load them up with chicken, cheese and salsa and roll them up, and they stayed together very well. I made three wraps this way.

You can hopefully tell by my photos how fresh the food looked, but how did it taste? The wraps were delicious! The flavor of everything was so good, and it was the right combination inside the wrap. I ate the lime-cilantro slaw by itself, and wasn't a huge fan. It certainly didn't taste bad, but it was pretty bland. There was nothing bland about the dark chocolate square - it was one of the best pieces of chocolate I have ever had! Over all, I had a great tasting, satisfying lunch.

The Bistro Boxes range in price, and the Chipotle Chicken Wraps Bistro Box was $6.95. I feel that is a little high for such a small lunch, and would like to see the price closer to $6, if not lower. However, the $6.95 price point is in line with similar healthy options at some fast food restaurants, and the freshness and taste of the Bistro Box was better than I would expect for a convenient meal such as that.

I definitely recommend that you try a Bistro Box from Starbucks the next time you are looking for a wholesome, convenient snack or meal. Not only will I be trying the different varieties of these when I need a quick lunch at work, I can see us stopping at Starbucks for Bistro Boxes when we are out and about on the weekends. I have a feeling my kids would even enjoy most of these!

Disclosure: I wrote this review while participating in a campaign by Mom Central Consulting on behalf of Starbucks Bistro Boxes and received a gift card to facilitate my review and thank me for taking the time to participate.

I've never seen/heard of these before, but I will definitely look into it. I try to bring leftovers, but that's not always possible. It's nice to see an alternative that isn't fast food.

I recently discovered these! I also am a fan of their paninis! I got the tomato mozzarella panini and they took it out of the wrapping, HOT PRESSED IT FOR ME, and then gave it to me all melty and delicious!
I'm loving that Starbucks has meal options! Yumm!
