Maximize Family Time With Schwan's {Review & Giveaway}

Schwan's Home Delivery

Family dinners are very important to me. Since my husband and I both work full time jobs, we don't get to spend much time together as a family during the week. That is why we have started the tradition of eating dinner together as a family, and we are going to continue this for as long as we can. It is the one time of the day when we all sit down together and talk about our days. I figure if we start this now when our kids are young, hopefully this will be something they enjoy doing. Well, at least until they are teenagers!

We try to maximize our evening family time as much as we can. Brian gets home earlier than I do, so he usually has dinner ready by the time we get home. Unfortunately, though, he doesn't have a lot of time to prepare dinner, so we usually eat the same few meals every week that can be made quickly, and that our super picky kids will eat. We desperately need some new quick dinner ideas, and thanks to Schwan's, now we have them!

Schwan’s Home Service, America’s largest direct-to-home food delivery service, is a quick and easy solution that limits prep time and maximizes family time. With hundreds of items to choose from, Schwan’s make it easier for parents to get a delicious meal on the table in minutes. With delicious main dishes such as Crispy Chicken Breast Strips and Fully Cooked Angus Meatloaf, and side dishes like Mixed Vegetables and QUIK TATERS Potato Rounds, you are sure to find something that everyone in your family will enjoy!

You may remember my last Schwan's review in which I told you about some great meat products that Schwan's carries, along with some yummy frozen treats. We really enjoyed those products, so we were more than happy to review some more selections from Schwan's!

Schwan's Crispy Chicken Breast Strips
Crispy Chicken Breast Strips

We take boneless and skinless chicken breast tenderloins, coat them in savory seasoning and then batter fry them to golden crisp. To prepare, simply bake or deep-fry for an extra-crispy delicious entrée. Anything goes with these versatile gems. Slice over salads, perfect for wraps with sliced avocado, cheddar cheese and salsa, or serve piping hot with dips on the side.
Schwan's Quik Taters Potato Rounds
QUIK TATERS Potato Rounds

Creamy, tender inside and crispy, golden outside—these shredded potato rounds bake-up or deep-fry fast, delicious and versatile. Sprinkle with salt and pepper and serve with eggs, dunk in ketchup for a crunchy side or add to your favorite casserole.
Schwan's Roasted Apple Crisp Kit
Roasted Apple Crisp Kit

Here’s a sweet and delicious way to make your own apple crisp that tastes like homemade, without the work. Simply pour pre-peeled and sliced quick-frozen apples into a baking dish, top with our crumbly streusel topping and bake. Fill your kitchen with the wonderful fragrance of fresh-baked apple crisp.

As always, our Schwan's food arrived in perfect condition. It was packed in a cooler with dry ice and was still frozen when we got home and brought it in the house. When I got home with the kids the next night, dinner was waiting for us...

Schwan's Easy Meal Idea

We added the mixed vegetables to the Schwan's Chicken Strips and QUIK TATERS.

The chicken strips and the potato rounds were both very easy to make! You just pop them in the oven and heat them up. That is all there is to it.

The Schwan's Crispy Chicken Breast Strips are by far THE BEST chicken strips we have ever had! We usually get chicken strips from our grocery store deli, but we will always buy them from Schwan's now. The breading is very tasty, and the chicken is juicy. I have never seen my kids eat like they do when we have these chicken strips for dinner. They devour them and then ask for more! I realize that I am raving about these strips, and you are probably wondering what the big deal is, but I'm telling you, they are THAT GOOD!

Brian and I also enjoyed the QUIK TATERS Potato Rounds. They weren't real crispy on the outside, but they tasted great! Rylie and Bryce aren't big on potatoes, so it didn't surprise me that they didn't want to eat them, but that was OK, because then there were more for me!

The Roasted Apple Crisp Kit was not really a "quick meal" idea, so we saved that to make for the weekend. Even though it took almost an hour to make from start to finish, most of that was just baking time and the preparation was simple. You simply microwave the apples and sauce cubes, transfer to a baking dish, sprinkle with the streusel mix, and pop it in the oven.

Schwan's Roasted Apple Crisp

The Apple Crisp was an awesome dessert! It was so much easier to make than trying to make it from scratch, and it tasted so good. We will definitely be making this again!

I feel that Schwan's prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food, and the convenience of home delivery and quick preparation. The Crispy Chicken Breast Strips are $15.98 for a 2.5 lb bag, the QUIK TATERS are $4.89 for a 2.5 lb bag, and the Roasted Apple Crisp Kit is $8.96. The food in this package easily makes two meals for a family of 4, if not more. You certainly can't go out to eat for that price.

~*~One of my readers is going to win a Schwan's Prize Pack!~*~
(Includes Crispy Chicken Breast Strips, QUIK TATERS Potato Rounds and Roasted Apple Crisp Kit.)

Schwan's Giveaway

Disclosure: All opinions are my own. I received the food items mentioned above from Schwan's at no cost for the purpose of this review. No other compensation was received. A big Thank You to Schwan's for providing the giveaway prize!

We eat together every night unless the girls are off doing something. We all sit down together and enjoy the food and talk about what's going on. It is really great. When we lived at our old house, we didn't really do this, and I am so glad it has changed.

Try to do family meals as often as possible... we just moved into a new place and working to get everything unpacked & organized (and then have time/energy to get a well-balanced meal together) makes it challenging... but hoping to make it 5+ nights per week once things are more settled!
