With all of the medical "stuff" that he has endured lately, I figured he would scream the entire time we were in there. He didn't, though. He cried some when we laid him down to measure him, and then when we put him on the scale, but once we got back into the room he was OK.
I always think that the nurses rush through the measurements, and I don't generally trust that they are correct, but here are his stats as she recorded them:
Height: 32.25 inches (15th percentile)
Weight: 25 lbs, 4 oz (25th percentile)
Head Circumference: 51.25" (95th percentile)
Don't let that noggin fool you...he is a little kid. He just has a lot of brains!
Bryce is wearing 18-24 month or 2T shirts, depending on the store. Most of his shorts are 18-24 months, but those are still big in the waist, and way too long. He has some 12-18 month shorts that still fit, but they are too low in the waist in the back and always look like they are falling down. I have no idea what we are going to do for pants this winter. I guess everything will just have to be rolled up.
So back to the doctor visit...
When the doctor came in, Bryce's smile quickly faded. He didn't cry, but he was very quiet and watched everything she did. She checked him all over, said he looked fine and all of the incisions from his surgery were healing up nicely. Then she said "how do YOU think he is doing?" I told her I thought he was doing just fine.
You know, it is so different when you have the second kid. At least for me it is. When we went in for Rylie's well checks, I always had a ton of questions for the doctor. It isn't like that with Bryce. I know what milestones he should be meeting, I know that he is on track for development, and I also know what is worrisome and what isn't. Basically, I know what I'm doing now. LOL
We went over the pediatrician's list of where a two year old should be in their development:
Movement: Does he climb up and down stairs? Yes. Does he run, jump and climb? Does he ever!
Hand and Finger Skills: Does he build a tower of 4 or more blocks? Yes. Does he make purposeful markings on paper? Yes, but he prefers the walls, or himself. Does that count?
Language: Is he putting words together in 2 or 3 word sentences? Yep! For example "NOOOO RY RY!" Can you understand what he says at least half the time? Yes. Almost always, actually. He speaks very clear.
Cognitive: Is he engaging in make-believe play? Yes. Especially with Rylie. I just sat and watched them for like 15 minutes the other night. They were "picking each other up from school" and were so cute! Is he sorting by shapes and colors? Well, he has known all of his colors for months, but I don't think he has ever felt the need to sort anything. Oh good! Maybe he didn't inherit my OCD.
Social: Does he play well with other kids? Yes. Does he play alone? Yes. And I imagine sometimes he prefers it that way, especially when choo choos are involved. Does he imitate behavior of adults and older children? The words "now look what you taught your brother to do!" are heard very frequently in our house.
Emotional: Is he becoming independent? Yes. Does he get frustrated easily? Not near as easily as his impatient sister. He will actually try something a few times in order to get it right. Now, if he doesn't get his own way, that is a different story. A full blow tantrum in the middle of the floor will usually ensue. Does he exhibit defiant behavior? My sweet Bryce? NEVER! ;-)
Bryce is right where he should be, if not ahead of the curve, developmentally. He is doing great!
He had the flu mist up his nose, which he didn't seem to mind, and one shot. By the time he knew what was going on, it was over. He cried for maybe 30 seconds, and didn't have any issues after his appointment.
Oh! Guess what Mama taught him to do when we were on our cruise? Bryce can count to 10! I'll try to get that on video this weekend.

Oh my how he's grown, and definitely gotten so very handsome. I'm glad the appointment went well for the little dude. He really has grown so fast!
Awww, he's getting to be such a big boy!! And a smart boy too!! Mason learned two new animal noises at Grandma's over the weekend, so apparently grandparents are good teachers all around LOL Glad he did okay at the doctors' despite all the recent trips there!
Yay for healthy guys! Bryce and I are almost exactly the same size - and, from the sound of it, 2 peas in a pod. :)
I am so glad the Bryce's check-up went well. Thank goodness....after all the little dude has been through!! It is always so bittersweet when you actually sit and reflect on how big they are getting. Love that his 3 word sentences are 'Ry-Ry no'....lol!! Sounds like our house :)
Gotta love an easy breezy appointment!
