Turtle Burgers, Anyone?

I got an email today with directions on how to make Turtle Burgers, and I am still laughing about it!

Turtle Burgers

Crazy, right? Not to mention a heart attack waiting to happen.

Next time you want to grill hamburgers and hot dogs, put them together, slap some bacon on them and create these, um, delicious turtles. You're sure to scare wow your guests at your next barbecue with these!

Here are the directions as stated in the email:

Handmade ground beef patties, topped with sharp cheddar cheese, wrapped in a bacon weave, then the next step, add hotdogs as the heads, legs with slits for toes and tail. Next step. Place on an oven rack, covered loosely with foil and baked for 20-30 minutes at 400 degrees. A little crispy, not too crunchy...just how a turtle should be, no?

Ooooh sounds yummy! Don't forget that cheddar cheese, because the yellow oozing out from under the bacon "shell" makes them even more appetizing! Barf.

Is it terrible that I would totally eat one of those? Well, I'd get rid of the hot dogs, but the rest...it could happen!

That's clever! Personally I couldn't eat that much meat in one setting, and I'd prefer a bun, but it's a really creative idea.

What the what? Sounds disgusting, much like a burger served between crispy creme doughnuts. They look cute, but I wouldn't eat it!

We've actually made them for our annual Pirates of the Caribbean day. They are very tasty, but to help with the heart attack factor, we didn't eat a whole one, we shared. :o)

Ohmigosh! I don't remember whose blog this was on, but it's totally someone I follow - and I remember thinking those were crazy looking in the original post... Blech.

ha...that is disgusting! But clever I suppose.

Very clever! The little kids thought it was cool but my teenagers were grossed out. I think its uncomfortable for us to eat our meat when it still looks like an animal, even if it is a turtle.

even if i was not a vegetarian this looks unhealthy and disgusting.
