Surgery Number Three

Bryce

We will be checking into the hospital tomorrow bright and early (well, actually dark and early) for Bryce's surgery. He is having his hernia repaired, and has to also have the adhesion from his circumcision taken care of. We have to be at the hospital at 5:30 AM for his surgery at 7:30 AM. The surgery should take an hour, and then we will be in recovery for a little while before we bring him home.

This is Bryce's third surgery in less than two years of life! He had surgery at 8 months old to have tubes put in his ears, and then again this past March to have the tubes re-done and his adenoids taken out. Add to that all of the crazy sicknesses he has add and his recent elbow injury, and I just feel so bad for him. He has been through so much.

I have a feeling that this surgery is not going to be as easy as the last two were. It is going to take longer, and I'm sure he is going to be VERY sore afterwards. The surgeon said he will be whipping around the next day and we will actually have to keep him calm so he doesn't hurt himself. I certainly hope that is the case.

Please keep my little Bryce in your thoughts and prayers tonight and tomorrow. I am sure that he will be just fine, but the thought of my baby going under anesthesia absolutely terrifies me. I can feel the anxiety taking over already, and I know I won't feel any relief until the surgeon comes out and tells me that the surgery went well and he is OK.

I'll leave you with a few pictures from our fun Saturday. We went for open play at Amaya Papaya yesterday for more than three hours, then we went to dinner. I just KNEW the kids would be sound asleep by the time we got home, but it was the exact opposite. We ended up in the back yard where the kids ran around like they had all the energy in the world. I don't know how they do it!

Awww. Poor little guy. I will pray for speedy recovery and patience with you. It has to be tough as a parent to sit and wait while your child has surgery. I actually have a hernia I have to have looked at. It is starting to bother me. I am sure kids are much more faster at recovery than adults. Good luck! I will be thinking of you guys

I'll be thinking about your little guy! I can't believe he has adhesion at this age...Gage had it a bit when he was younger, I felt so bad....was it not done correctly or does/did he have twisted raphe?

So sorry he has to go through surgery again!

Hugs girl. I will be thinking of you all tomorrow. I hope all goes very well for your little man. I totally understand about one child going through so much. My poor Christopher was the same way.

My daughter had a hernia repair last year in May (2010) and they told me she was going to be sore and not doing much for 3 to 5 days, not even 8 hours later she was up running around like nothing happened! It was hard because I didn't want her to tear that incision site. She wasn't even 2 yet. Good luck and hopefully he will stay inactive for his own good! It took her longer in recovery (6 hours) than in surgery (45 mins)!

Aww poor baby!! It's really sad when little ones have to go through surgery. My 6 yr old daughter had mouth surgery last year and they had to use anesthesia which petrified me the most!! The big thing they scare you with is the papers you have to sign. The nurses and docs reassure me that everything will be okay to just calm down and relax. It's hard to be calm though when it's your baby. They let me know that many children go through the same thing everyday. In the end she was A-okay and it only took about an hour and a half for surgery + recovery!! He will be fine momma but I know how you feel and your worries! My fiance had a hernia removed at age 3 and his mom said everything went great! Praying for little Bryce and for him to have a speedy recovery!! Praying for you too momma that God eases those worries and fears you have!
