Pool parties always end up being great fun! I don't know if it is the relaxed atmosphere of an outdoor gathering, or just being outside soaking up the sun's rays, but I have never had a bad time at a pool party or a barbecue. I love sitting around in lawn chairs, having a refreshing summer cocktail and chatting with friends.
Preparing for outdoor gatherings is a lot easier than hosting big parties indoors. Decorating is usually a cinch. All you need are some colorful patio chair cushions, a few Tiki torches and maybe some of those cool patio string lights and you're all set. Food preparation is much easier too. Sure, you can go all out and grill steaks and make pulled pork sandwiches, but it is super easy to cook some burgers and dogs on the grill and serve them with potato salad and some other tasty summer side dishes.
We have yet to have a big pool party this summer, and I feel the need to plan one. I absolutely love outdoor entertaining! Even though we have kids now and our summer pool parties will have to be milder than ones we have held in the past, we would still have a great time!
I have always had this dream of living on the water and really entertaining in style. I imagine setting up some really nice bistro sets on my patio overlooking the ocean and inviting our friends over to a huge catered meal. Just imagine a view like this from your back door...
But until I win the lottery that view will just be an image in my mind. For now, our patio will have to do. We don't live on the ocean, but we do have a pool. Anyone up for a party?

Yes! We love a party and the hubs is looking for a new outdoor patio set too! Ours is way too large for our space.
