We had no plans for the weekend, which is unusual for us. On Friday I casually mentioned to Andrea that we should meet up at the splash pad on Saturday, but no firm plans were made. We slept in a little on Saturday and shortly after we got up, we decided that we would head to the park to play in the splash pad and have a picnic lunch. I sent Andrea and my other friend Kristen a text, and by 11:30, we were all headed to the park. Rylie was so happy to see her friends Angelica and Cole!
The kids had a such a great time! This is the same park where we had Bryce's first birthday party. OMG I can't believe that was almost a year ago! Anyway...the park has a great playground that is mostly shaded, and a splash pad. The kids love running around in that ice cold water! Of course I have a TON of pictures to show you...
We took a break from splashing around for a little picnic lunch. The kids had PB&J sandwiches, blueberries, strawberries, Cheetos and juice boxes. They must have worked up an appetite on the splash pad because they all ate really well!
After lunch, the kids were right back out on the splash pad!
Once the kids had their fill of the water, they got dressed and played on the park equipment until they were so tired they just couldn't move any more!
As we were leaving the park, I invited everyone to come over and swim later. If nothing else, it forced me to straighten up my house! We came home and the kids rested up for the pool party while Brian and I cleaned up. Cole and his mom came over, as did Angelica and her mom and dad. We had a great time swimming and hanging out. We had Chick Fil A for dinner, and I decided to bake some cupcakes for dessert. I don't have any pictures since I was in the pool too, but I'm sure you are all OK with that after the overload above!
We slept in Sunday and before I knew it, half of the day was over. We finally got dressed and headed out to Babies R Us around 3:00. We had a bunch of rewards cards that we needed to spend. Rylie had fun picking out some new clothes, but for the most part, neither of the kids wanted to be at the store. We left there an hour or so later and decided we were going to be brave and try to go out to eat. Surprisingly, the kids did really well and we all had a great dinner at Mimi's Cafe. I did take a couple pictures there just because.
I am usually such a planner and don't do much on the spur of the moment. We had such a great weekend, though, that I am learning that unplanned fun can be the best kind of fun. I can't wait for another great weekend like that!

first of all, Bryce looks SO big boy in that last picture!! second-and finally, i totally agree on unplanned fun being the best kind. we did the exact same thing as you guys (minus the spash pad, minus the friends) the other week and ended spending almost 4 hours at the playground. i LOVE unplanned weekends!!
We had SUCH a great time too! :)
How fun! That park is really neat!!! I can't believe how big the kids look especially Bryce! Hope we can meet up soon for a playdate!!!
You waited until I was just about to post my "Tell Us Something Good" post to break the news - booooo!! :oP It was a great idea though, you two!!
The splash pad looks like so much fun!!! I so wish we had something like that around here - I think Mason would love it! The nearest one that I can find is 3+ hours away. Anyway, I love all the pictures - it looks like those two had a GREAT weekend!
And have I lost my mind? I thought Rylie had a nut allergy? (The PBJ lunch threw me LOL)
I wish we had a splash pad here, that's so cool! It sounds like a great time to me, and any day that ends with Chickfila is a great one in my book. =)
Looks like you guys had a fantastic time! The photos of the kids on the splashpad are adorable!
A little Bummed about the dissolution of Something Good, but hey, I can still make it a habit to share something good anyway!
Love the splash pad photos - the perfect thing to do on a warm summer day! I love Rylies bathing suit - so adorable!! Sometimes unplanned playdates are the best :)
I soooo wish our park had a splash pad! The kids would love it!

Wish you would rethink not doing the
Tell Us Something Good posts. I am going to continue doing mine in hopes that others will join in.
The splash park looks like an absolute BLAST!!!! You're right about spontaneous fun being extra good fun!!!!!
Splash pad, playground, pool, AND Chik-Fil-A for dinner?! That sounds like an *awesome* day!
The fact that fun can come so unexpected it great!! I always enjoy times like that so much more. Sometimes planning is overrated...LOL! The kiddos looked like they had a blast in the splash park :) And I have to say, I am sad that 'something good' is ending, but we will still have to be sure to try and talk up the positive in our lives :)
It looks like a really fun place to play! Cute pictures!
