My Dad passed away last Sunday. As a lot of you know, he stopped breathing last week. The paramedics were able to revive him, but he never came back to us. He was on life support for almost 6 days, and when we were told there was nothing else they could do for him, we took him off of it and let him go. It was the hardest decision my family has ever had to make. I held his hand while he left us.
I want to thank all of you for your thoughts and prayers over these last two weeks. Your comments, emails, tweets and Facebook messages meant a lot to me. I apologize for not posting an update sooner, but I just couldn't find the words. In fact, I still can't.
I miss my Dad so much. My heart hurts, and there is a hole in it that will remain there forever. The sadness and grief I feel is unbearable. I can't believe that I will never be able to talk to him again. He left us too early. I'm sad for my children who will not get to grow up with their Papa. I won't say that he is in a better place, because I believe that there is no better place than here with his family, but he is no longer suffering in pain.
His funeral is this Saturday. I will be back next week. Thank you all again for all of your support through this horrible time.

Not too many times in my life have I been able to say "I know what you are going through". But with, I do know exactly how it feels to lose our parents. I was such a Daddy's girl while growing up (probably because I was the only girl), and when he passed away Sept 30th I thought I would die and go with him.
I will not tell you that it gets better every day. The pain of loss is always there. I still think of him all the time, but the tears have gotten less with the passage of time.
Your dad's face looks so happy, and joyful. What a beautiful smile he has!

I was thinking about you and your dad on Sunday actually. I am sorry for what you have to go through. I am glad you had the chance to say goodbye. you don't have to stop talking to him. I still talk to my dad who died 13 years ago and my mom who died last year and even my sister who past away 31 years ago in a plane crash. that was the hardest one because she went away and never came home so there was no closure. But I still talk to her and dream about her. Take your time. We will all be here when you are ready to come back.

I came here to join your site for BYB...and then saw your post. I am so sorry to learn of your dad's passing. I can sympathize with what you are going through as I almost lost my son not a month ago to pneumonia. In the blink of an eye...he was intubated. I thought that was it, I was losing him at the age of 27. The feelings you are experiencing are beyond comprehension...it's not a fun place to be...I couldn't understand why. I'm so sorry. We had to do the same thing 23 years ago and so I know how hard it was for you and how sad you are now. My sons were 8 months and 2 years old and I think about all that my dad has missed. He would have loved them and did during the short time he had with them.
I still miss him and you're right, the hole never goes away. But it does get easier. I promise.

Hello so sorry for your loss hun praying for you and your family through this difficult time. I know how hard it is to lose a parent I feel your pain. I lost my mother in 2001 at the age of 16. You will go through so many mixed emotions. Of course the holidays and birthdays are the worse. The first few years are the worse and for everyone that says time heals everything it doesn't. My mother passed away 10 years ago and not a day goes by that it gets any easier. I need my mother more than anything. My daughter never got the chance to meet such a wonderful woman. Don't hold your emotions in if you need to go to the bathroom and get away from the kids to cry do it. I held in my emotions for years and it really got to me in the end. LeeAnn-take your time in coming back. It's been over 20 years for my Dad and I still think about him all the time. He's everywhere - especially the way he talked, I mispronounce the same words, use the same expressions. So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing.

I'm so sorry to hear about you dad. My mom, who was my best friend, died 18 months ago. While it seems overwhelming now, I promise it does get easier as time goes by.
