Slumber Party

Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. Ours was busy as usual, but I'm happy to say that I can finally see my dining room table again. Yay!

We started off our weekend with a slumber party Friday night. Rylie's friend Angelica spent the night, and the girls had so much fun!

First off, I have to say that I was honored that our friends trusted us with the care of their little girl. Rylie has only been gone overnight with my parents, and I have to admit that I wouldn't feel comfortable letting her stay with just anyone. I would have to really trust someone and know that my kids were in good hands in order to let them spend the night away from home. There aren't many people that fit that bill. So it made me feel really good to know that Angelica's parents felt comfortable leaving her with us.

The girls started off the evening playing dress up. They got Rylie's dress up trunk out, put on some fancy tops and high heels, and gathered their purses and magic wands. First they went to the "Rain Festival" (whatever that is) and then they went off to the Strawberry Festival. Here they are getting in their ice cream truck to drive to one of their fun festivals...

After dinner they played a little more before it was time for a bath and jammies. Once they had their pjs on, they settled in on the couch for a popsicle and some Dora.

We pulled the futon mattress in Rylie's room so they could sleep together in real slumber party fashion. We got them upstairs and let them get their giggles out before we said goodnight.

We finally said goodnight and went downstairs. That certainly wasn't the last time we were up there though.

Those two little stinkers were having so much fun! They giggled themselves to sleep, I think. Surprisingly, it only took them about a half hour, and us two trips upstairs, before they drifted off into dreamland. Granted it was WAY later than Rylie's normal bed time, but our house was completely quiet around 10:15. Great! Do you think they slept in on Saturday morning? Not so much.

They were up there giggling again at around 7:30, and Bryce decided he needed to be up too. So much for sleeping in. We spent the morning painting fingernails and toenails with Piggy Paint, playing dress up (again) and pretty much playing with every toy they could.

I had so much fun watching those girls play. And honestly? As much as I wanted to just sit down and relax Friday evening, I enjoyed the giggling that was going on when they were supposed to be going to sleep. It was so cute to watch them on Rylie's monitor. We couldn't help but laugh.

I can't wait until Rylie is older and has real slumber parties. I'm really looking forward to having a house full of little girls giggling until all hours of the night. I remember how much fun my childhood slumber parties were, and I can't wait until Rylie and her friends can have that kind of fun!

Have a great week, my friends!

Oh, my goodness - how CUTE! I can't believe they went to sleep that early. It would have been much closer to midnight if my daughter had a sleep over.

Like I said that night, if I trusted anyone outside the family to keep my girl overnight, it'd be you guys! I'm so glad they had such a good time and went to bed at a decent time. Angelica's been talking about how much fun she had ever since then!

So fun! Funny how that works, it is almost less work to have a friend over because they entertain themselves! Cam had her first slumber party two weeks ago and it was very similar, they passed out in the living room by 10! I've also dropped her off for afternoon playdates which is kinda like FREE babysitting...this is a perk of having older kids!

I thought that looked like Angelica. And Rylie's hair is getting so long. Glad the girls had fun.

Love it! Looks like the girls had a great time. I look forward to sleepovers when Abby gets older.. what fun! I remember how much I loved them, once I was passed the "cling to Mommy" stage. :)

That sounds like so much fun. I'm secretly looking forward to Sweetness having a girlfriend over for her first slumber party. I love how you let them just enjoy it. Sounds like a perfect memory for Riley.

Sorry I've been away for so long. Lost my job and have been overwhelmed with trying to get things settled in the new life.
