Finally! A Fever Free Day

Wow. The past week has been rough for my family. I’m pretty sure that yesterday was the first day in a week that no one had a fever at any point in the day. The sickies infiltrated my house and spread like mad! It started last Monday when Bryce had croup, then I got sick, and then Rylie got sick. I figured that would have been the end of it, but I was wrong.

Saturday night was a rough night for Bryce. He kept whining in his sleep, and finally woke up screaming. I knew immediately that he had an ear infection, since that is the only thing that ever interrupts his sleep like that. We put him in bed with us and tried to keep his head elevated on my pillow, and he ended up sleeping OK the rest of the night. Sure enough, the next morning, his ear was draining. (He has tubes, so when his ears are infected, they drain.) We almost kept him home from Rylie’s party, but he seemed OK that afternoon, so we let him go. He was fine the whole time at the party, but he started getting fussy again a couple hours after we got home. By the time he was ready for bed, he had a fever, and didn’t sleep well again that night, so he got to sleep with us again. By Monday morning, both ears were draining. He went to the pediatrician yesterday and got put on antibiotics for his ears. He had a good night last night and seemed a lot better already this morning.

I’m not sure what is going to happen with Bryce now. Back in November the ENT was ready to re-do his tubes and take his adenoids out, but the ear infections seemed to stop. We were hoping to make it to February without another one, but now that he has had one, the ENT may go back to wanting to take his adenoids out. We’ll see.

So yay! Yesterday was fever free for everyone, and we all seem to be well again. I hope that is the end of this sickies crap for a while. I’m over it! And now, maybe I can get back to my regularly scheduled blogging...

My daughter had tubes in at 9 months and next week we have to take her back to the ENT to see about getting tubes in her right ear again because it fell out! So I know what you are going through... it's so hard!!! Hope he feels better and soon!

Ear infections are the worst. Moo was about to go through a stage where she was getting them regularly but we went to a new dr who recommended avoided antibiotics to treat it and she's been ear infection free for almost a year! Keeping her head elevated when she sleeps and regular cleanings seemed to be helping too.

I will keep you guys in prayer.

Ugh! Poor little guy. Well, I hope this is the end of the sickies for you guys. On one hand it's better to get it all done with at one time so everyone can be healthy at one time, but on the other hand that's a lot of kleenex and tylenol!

Oh, I hope that's the last of it for you :( It's so sad when kids are sick. I got the flu on New Year's Eve and it hung on for a week. My daughter decided to get a fever on the 20 hour car drive from PA to FL and screamed most of the way there. Once we were there the fever broke after a day, but she had extreme separation anxiety and wouldn't let me put her down for any reason and wouldn't go to anyone but me (not daddy, not grandma, just mommy) and had to sleep in bed with me on top of my chest for half the week. Now we're home and back to our regular routine but she has a wet cough and runny nose...so she runs screaming every time I want to wipe her nose. Ug! It'll be over soon (I hope).

Ok...glad ot hear that the 'sickies' have left your house...LOL! Doesn't the winter time stink?? I hope that Bryce is feeling better. I think it is so weird. You either hear of a kid getting a million ear infections or never getting any. Why is that? I hope he doesn't have to have his tubes re-done :)

I didn't know they could still get ear infections with tubes?? My daughter has had several back to back and they are talking tubes with us too. At least antibiotics help. I'm glad the sickies are leaving your house!

Yeah for the no fever but UGH poor Bryce. I so hope he is building up his immunities and will fly by school with no problems!
