Christmas Shopping Is Done!

We were able to get all of our Christmas shopping done between one night of online shopping, one afternoon out at the stores (basically back and forth between TRU and Target) and a half hour during lunch yesterday. It doesn't take all that much when you're just buying presents for two toddlers that don't need a dang thing. Since we have kids now, Brian and I don't generally buy each other Christmas presents. And it is pretty much all about the kids with our families too, so we don't really exchange gifts anymore either. Easy peasy.

Rylie was pretty easy to buy for. In fact, I could have gone nuts buying Christmas presents for her. She likes everything. Her birthday is three weeks after Christmas, though, so we tried to keep Christmas to a minimum this year. It was a little harder figuring out what to get for Bryce. What in the world do you get a 1 year old? Especially one that has just about every Fisher Price toddler toy that was handed down from his sister. We did manage to find a few things for him.

The "big" present for both of them is a Crayola Easel. Rylie loves to color, and Bryce has started sitting and coloring with her, so I figured this would be a hit with both of them. Bryce is probably still a little small for it, but I'm sure he'll be coloring with his sister in no time.

I was lucky enough to win a $100 Amazon gift card from a giveaway at Shibley Smiles, so with that we got Rylie a scooter and Bryce a tricycle. Both are Radio Flyer. Rylie already has the pink tricycle and she really likes it, so we got the same one for Bryce in blue. It is great because it has a long handle for moms and dads to push and steer it.

Even though we don't have room for any other big toys in our house, we got Rylie a princess tent and a Step2 vanity. Luckily the tent is "supposed" to collapse down flat for easy storage, and the vanity will be in her room, so those won't be out in the middle of the floor like everything else!

Rylie's newest obsession is Play Doh, so we also got her a few little Play Doh sets. I think she will be the crafty one of the house.

She is also getting a couple My Little Pony sets, some dress up high heels and some Furry Frenzies hamster thing that runs in a wheel...just because I thought she would like it.

OK, so now that I typed all of that out, I guess we really didn't succeed in keeping it to a minimum for her. But if you knew everything I thought "oooh, Rylie would really like that" about, you would see that we did. :-)

Bryce likes to inspect and "fix" all of his toys, so we got him this little LeapFrog car that has tools and nuts and bolts. And since he seems to like cars, he is also getting the Chicco RC car.
He is also getting the Mega Bloks Dump Truck so that he doesn't have to play with Rylie's pink Mega Bloks anymore, and his first train!

And then today when I went to pick up the easel, I couldn't resist and ended up putting the Tickle Me Elmo in the cart. I had taken him to TRU with me the other day to get a birthday present for one of Rylie's friends and when he saw that Elmo he SQUEALED and started saying "Elmo". I have no idea how he even knows who Elmo is, but he does. I want to hear him squeal again on Christmas! It's so cute!

So there you have it. Our shopping is done. We did also get gifts for the daycare teachers, so we did buy stuff for people other than the kids. :-) And I have to buy presents for my cousins in AL, but rather than carting them up there, I'm just going to get them when we get there. Now I just have to wrap all of this stuff. Of course I'm sure Brian will be up all night Christmas Eve putting some of the big stuff together.

I still have to get the tree decorated. The lights are already on it, at least. I am actually taking a vacation day from work today, so hopefully I can get that done. I was already taking a half day to go to the kids' Christmas party at school, so I figured I would just take the whole day. I sure do need it!

So what did you get for your little ones? If you posted about it, leave me a link so I can check it out. If you didn't post, leave a comment. I'm always looking for good ideas for birthdays - for my kids and their friends. And tell me, who is still buying last minute gifts? I am SO glad I won't be out at the stores on Christmas Eve like I normally am!

So, glad that you are all done! I am mostly...just two more things and I'll be done. I didn't know what to get chloe either...with all the hand-me-down toys, she doesn't really need anything. I did buy her some moon dough. Have you tried that stuff? It's like play doh, only it NEVER dries out. It's cool. They also like the Moon Sand too. The girls are getting a Little Tikes Playhouse/Dollhouse thing and the Hubs still needs to assemble it which will take 3 hours and an aresenal of cuss words. Glad you are taking a day off! Email me tomorrow! :)

I am totally sucking on my Christmas shopping this year!! My dad, one friend, and Mason are the only ones I'm finished shopping for.

We're mean and Mason is getting one bigger present (the Fisher Price Ball Popper) and two books because I figure the grandparents are going to go wild, so we'll save money on Christmas while we still can!! LOL

I still have hubby, my mom, the inlaws, my niece, and most of my friends to finish shopping for. EEK!!!

I think the older they get the harder it is to buy for them. I want that Elmo though!

Great ideas! We got our 1 and a half year old a Vtech play station, a Little People farm set, a Fisheprice bathtime tugboat, a book and bathtime crayons. Merry Christmas!

I finished today too! I know what you mean about saying "oooh they would like that!" I found about 1000 things for Nate but restrained myself, a little. :) You picked some great stuff!

Looks like a lot of the things Nina will be getting this year. I am excited to see Nina with her Easel and tricycle on Christmas morning.

That vanity is adorable! I have a feeling my little one may request one of those down the road. Super cute!

Elmo. Oh my Elmo is a staple in our house and at work. What is it about that little red monster that captures our kids?! One day you wake up and it's Elmo Elmo Elmo.
