Saturday Playdate - Born From My Heart

Welcome to another fun Saturday Playdate! Today we're playing with Dawn from Born From My Heart. Dawn is one of my real life besties. We met at work several years ago. I overheard her talking about walking through the woods trying to rescue some cats, and being the animal lover that I am, I butted in to her conversation. We ended up talking and talking and realized that we had a lot in common. We were so similar, in fact, that people used to get us confused at work. It was always so funny when people would start a conversation with me about something I had no clue about, just to realize they thought they were talking to Dawn. We have been great friends ever since!

Dawn has a beautiful little girl named Reagan who is almost two. Yay! That means another birthday party...because you all know that we love birthday parties. :-) Her blog is full of stories about Reagan, and of course there are tons of cute pictures. Stop by and check it out. Leave a comment while you're there and let her know you stopped by from the playdate.

Stinky-Toes

I am very excited to play at LeeAnn’s today. We do this in real life too so it is fun to have a virtual play date as well. I am the lucky mom of one gorgeous little almost 2 year old girl, Reagan, who was born not from my body but most definitely was a special order from my heart. I honestly don’t know if I could have borne a child more perfectly matched to our family than she. She is such a wonderful miracle in so many ways. When she was a newborn, I had many people ask if I thought motherhood was hard, if it was everything I had envisioned, was I getting any sleep, etc. There were a few people however who asked an interesting question – what is the most surprising thing about motherhood? My answer – Stinky Toes.

How on earth can something so tiny, so precious, so perfect produce such foul smelling feet at the end of the day?!?! It is a freak of nature for that to even be possible. Utterly and completely wrong. Now that she is older and using her feet more – nothing has changed. Stinky, stinky, stinky toes by the end of the day. What is so funny though is that she has picked up the stinky toes phrase and uses it as a normal label. Nose…mouth…hair…teeth…ears…fingers…belly…stinky-toes. One of the first times she used the phrase herself we both ended up belly laughing about it. I was changing her diaper and she lifted her foot, shoved it in my face and said Stinky-Toes. I busted out laughing that she called them stinky-toes and obliged her by sniffing her little foot. I then proceeded to pretend to gag and wretch loudly and profusely. That in turn caused Reagan to start laughing hysterically and once she recovered her breath, she promptly shoved her other foot in my face for a repeat. We played this game for about 10 minutes alternating each foot.

A few weeks later, Reagan dropped a hard plastic toy right onto the top of her stocking feet. The sting of it made her cry and when I asked her what was wrong she cried, “Myyyyyy Stinky-Tooooooes, myyyyy stinky-tooooooes!” I had to stifle a laugh as I picked her up to comfort her. I felt horrible that she was hurting but at the same time it was absolutely adorable and funny to hear her refer to her feet that way. I sure hope this doesn’t cause any issues as she gets older and realizes what the term really means. Ah well, guess I should hurry up and grab it on video before she does!

Thanks for reading and I hope everyone has a fun weekend!

I'm a day late but better late then never they say. What a cute story. They are so cute when they are young.
