Welcome to another fun Saturday Playdate! Today we're playing with Christina from finally Mom. Christina is the mom to an adorable little girl who she calls "Lovie". Her blog, like her life, is all about Lovie. She is such a proud mom, and you can tell by reading her posts that her world revolves around that sweet little girl. Her blog has TONS of pictures of Lovie, along with fun posts about their life together. She also posts about her struggles as a working mom, which is a topic a lot of us are familiar with. She doesn't hold anything back, either. Her blog is honest, and straight from the heart.
When you're done over here, make sure you head over to Christina's blog and leave her a comment. If you like what you see (and I'm sure you will), make sure you become a follower!
Play date…play date...play date… A time when you get together with others and play… on a specific date... Like Saturday, October 9th.
Oy, what am I going to wear? More importantly, what is Lovie going to wear? She’s got to look exceptionally cute. I mean, come on. She’s super damn cute but no other baby can be cuter than her. Period. Oh wait. I don’t have to worry about this because this is a BLOG Play date! HOORAH FOR THE INTERNET!!
No really- THANK GOODNESS FOR THE INTERNET. For without it there would be no husband (that’s how we met- he answered an online personal ad I placed early 2000) and therefore no Lovie and therefore no Finally Mom blog.
So, Me: I’m nearing 40 and a (working) first time momma to the most beautiful creature I’ve ever laid my eyes upon… my Lovie. (Go on and take a peek and tell me you’ve seen something more precious. Wait, did you see the pumpkin patch pictures? Or wait!! Her Half birthday photo shoot??) My life is hers now so if that bores you or makes you cringe- that I’m one of *those* moms who gush over their little ones, whose life revolves around their child, whose motto is “if baby’s not welcome, neither am I”- then mine isn’t really the blog for you. And I’ll make no apologies for it. I’ve waited a long time for this chapter in my life; I’ve watched nephews and nieces make their way to adulthood- even helping one of them get there (my munchkin man booger butt he will forever be!). And now it’s my turn. Mine and Lovie’s (and I suppose my husband's, too).
Anyway, some of my Favorites include Lovie, junk food (ice cream, chips, burgers, fries, you name it!), Bryan Adams, and writing. Dislikes include liars, manipulators, most trendy crap.
So, Lovie: she’s awesome. True story. She’s 9 months old and some change. She’s been in daycare (DC) full time since she was barely 2 months old and although this (putting her into DC) was something that hurt my heart so stinkin’ much to do, it’s also the biggest, hugest misconception I think I've ever encountered and I’m actually grateful (today) that she’s a daycare baby. She’s exposed to kids her age and a little older on a daily basis (Monday thru Friday, 630a-330p) and, as a result, learned to watch and study the older ones crawl and stand and walk when she was immobile. Now, she’s become one of those older kids (except she's not walking yet...thankfully!). *sniff * And she’s only 9 months old. Sure she’s had her fair share of colds and snotty noses as a result of daycare, but such is life (can’t keep them in a bubble forever).
With as much as I hate, and I do mean *hate* being away from her every single day, I firmly believe she wouldn’t be the Lovie she is today had she been at home all this time. We were forced into a routine early and it’s all been awesome for her... she's really learned how to socialize with others and doesn’t cling to me when a stranger says Hello, nor does she hide behind my legs when they get down to her level. She likes looking at people and loves it when they look at her. And I really don’t think any of that would be the case had she stayed at home with me all these months. (Of course I'm not at all saying that babies not in DC will have an opposite reaction; I'm saying that I think Lovie would've been very different without school.)
Anyway, some of her Favorites include dancing and singing, jumping on and smothering stuffed animals, kissing the cute baby she sees in the mirror, blowing raspberries on momma, waving Hi to daddy, chasing after the cats, and pickles and peas. Dislikes include anything touching her hair, being fed, waiting too long for a bottle when she’s hungry.
So now that you know a little about us... hopefully I'll learn more about some of you! If you want, that is. While finally Mom is only 7.5 months old, I've been blogging for about 10 years so I know how the game is played- and I love comments just as much as the next person. I love catching up with other bloggers and online friends, as well, and comment when I can- but that's usually only during the (work)week. Anyhow, Thanks SO Much to LeeAnn for asking us to attend our very first Playdate! It really wasn't so bad! :D
Thanks for stopping by for our playdate! I hope you had fun! If you would like to come over for a playdate, let me know in a comment or an email. I'm currently scheduling playdates for November and December. I'd love to have you over to play!

I feel the same way about day care as you do. I believe my children learned many skills they needed before getting into school. Of course if I had my choice I would still have loved to be home with them but everything happens for a reason.
