Happy Saturday! Thanks for stopping by for another fun playdate! Today we're playing with Sonya from Belly Charms- the Blog. Sonya is one of the sweetest bloggers I have had the pleasure of "meeting"! She is a super busy WAHM of two adorable little boys. Sonya makes beautiful jewelry. She makes everything from maternity belly button rings to bracelets, and even some adorable flip flops! You can see her collections at Belly Charms.
Belly Charms - the Blog is always a great read! Sonya posts about her family, her jewelry, and everything in between. She also posts about her sister Sandi's Fight for Life as she battles brain cancer. (She also has a jewelry line dedicated to Sandi, and all of the proceeds go to help Sandi and her family during these tough times.)
When you're done here, make sure you head over to Belly Charms - the Blog and give Sonya some comment love!
My name is Mommy, Mom or Sonya....all depends on who you ask. I was so excited when LeeAnn asked me to come over for the Saturday Playdate. We moved earlier this year to a new city and I have been so busy with my Belly Charms business and being a WAHM that I never get to play. Wait....I take that back - my adorable boys are 3 1/2 and 4 1/2. I am an expert GeoTrax and Thomas the Train track builder. On the last trip to the toy store I bought myself a set of connectors for GeoTrax. So if it involves trains or cars, I get to play.
Ironically enough she asked me to play last Saturday. This was my real life playdate for my
Thanks to Facebook I have reconnected with many of my childhood friends. I did notice one thing when looking around the room. Many of the men are wearing bigger pants (waist size), and quite a few of the ladies are wearing a bigger bra size. Maybe we were all late bloomers. :) My bra size increased 8 years ago and my dad still believes it is a wonder bra.
I started blogging by accident - my kids led me to it. For over a year I was doing tons of reviews with Belly Charms. I was sending my mother's bracelets to various mommy blogs for review. I decided I wanted to write a blog too, so in April of this year, on a whim, I started Belly Charms - the Blog. I am having a great time with it and have connected with so many wonderful people.
Just a few weeks after I started the blog my younger sister was diagnosed with brain cancer. The support we have both gotten from the blogging community has been amazing - truly amazing. All of the nice emails and even donations have meant the world to her. I am happy to say that her chemo is keeping the tumor from growing and it has even shrunk a little. Many thanks to all of you who continue to pray for her. You can read her story and follow her progress at Sandi's Fight for Life. My mom took this photo of hubby and I with Sandi last weekend.
Now I do need to talk about my wonderful husband. On my blog I always talk about the boys. My hubby gets left out. He will be very surprised to see I made him a Playdate topic. He looked at my blogger profile about a month ago and noticed I did not mention I was married to him.....oops and yes I changed it. I was focused on the WAHM part. :)
Hubby is a WAHD which is wonderful! Jumping back....... About 2 years before I met him I gave up on men completely. I went out and adopted a kitten instead. That kitten is now a big fat kitty and she is in my lap watching me type. I think she misses the simple life the 2 of us had back in my little apartment in 2002. Boy have things changed for us.
So back to the husband story. We met on the internet in January 2004, dated seriously for about 4 months, broke up for 5 months (he did it - you know men and that fear of commitment thing they have). Then out of nowhere we started talking and hanging out a little. After just a few weeks, we went to dinner and as we pulled up to the restaurant he said to me. "You know you are going to have to get rid of that sports car when we have kids." Nothing ever makes my speechless, but I was in total shock. Then we sat down and he told me that he messed up, that I was his soul mate and that he wanted to marry me and have a baby. I don't even remember if I answered him, but it was one of the happiest moments of my life. We got engaged about a month later.
To sum it all up: We got married in May 2005, got pregnant in June 2005, had Austin in January 2006 - 6 weeks early. Got pregnant again 5 months later and had Colton in March 2007. You know that 1% of the population that can get pregnant while nursing, I am it. When the ob/gyn asked about my last period, my honest answer was a year and a half ago. For the first 3 1/2 years of our marriage I was either pregnant, nursing or both. Here are my little guys now.
I will finish up by letting you know that 2 is my favorite number. I have 2 businesses (Belly Charms and Vital IDs from Belly Charms), 2 kids, 2 dogs, 2 cats, 2 fish and now 2 blogs (Belly Charms Blog and Maternity Belly Bling).....which normally leads to only about 2 hours of sleep a night. Thanks so much for stopping by our Saturday Playdate. I hope you had fun....and as I am finishing this post, it is almost 2 am :)
