Come on now, did you really think I was going to write about THAT here?
I'm no stranger to turning my online friends into real life friends. In fact, I met most of my local friends on a message board for newlyweds. But this weekend was my first time meeting one of my "bloggy friends".
Carol, from Knee Deep in Mommahood, and I were chatting last week. She mentioned that her family was taking a little getaway to Orlando for the weekend. Um, hold on, I live in Orlando. And we actually have no plans! Yeah, I just intrude on my friends' family vacations like that. :-) We chatted a little more and decided to meet at Downtown Disney on Saturday night.
When I first started meeting my online friends in person, I would get really nervous. What if they don't like me? What if we have nothing to talk about? That doesn't really happen anymore. If you know anything about me, it is that I can always find something to talk about. :-) But I wasn't nervous at all about meeting Carol. From the moment I really started chatting with her through our blogs, I knew that she was just a fun, open, easy-going chick. I couldn't wait to meet her in person!
So Saturday night Rylie and I drove out to DTD. Bryce had a fever Friday and Saturday, so he and Brian stayed home. We met up with Carol, her husband and her two adorable little girls, and had dinner at T-REX Cafe. I had never been there before, but we will definitely be going back. It was such a cool restuarant! The girls thought the dinosaurs were really neat and they all had a great time.
After dinner it started raining so we went into the Disney Store to stay dry. Oh wait, did I just give an excuse for shopping? Carol and I walked around and chatted while her little Chloe rearranged cups on the shelves and Rylie kept grabbing stuff and saying "I want this" without even knowing what it was. Rylie did manage to talk me into a few items, and Bryce got his first Mickey Mouse t-shirt. I gotta say, I felt like a tourist buying stuff from that store.
When we were done there it was raining pretty hard. We ducked under the Lego store for a few minutes and Carol's daughter Camdyn joined in on the Lego races. That was cute to watch. After a few miutes of that we decided to call it a night. Damn these Florida storms for cutting our evening short. It didn't matter, though. We had a great time, and I was so glad to meet Carol and her family. She is just as sweet as I thought she would be. It is just too bad she doesn't live closer so we could get together more often.
And of course there are pictures! Here we are in the Disney store before we got soaked. I'm the one on the left...she's the cute skinny one on the right.
There is a "meteor shower" every 15 or 20 minutes at the T-REX restaurant. Rylie was really into it!
Here is Carol helping Camdyn get lined up for the Lego race...
...as Rylie and Chloe cheer her on from the sidelines.
Did I mention that Carol is a great photographer? She sent me this picture last night and I thought it was really cool.
Thank you Carol for meeting us! It was so great to meet you and your family and I hope we can get together again soon!
