I know it is Wordless Wednesday, but I have some words...
I'm irritated. It pisses me off to no end how insurance companies get to dictate our health care. (And folks, it is only going to get worse, but that is a different post for a different day, or maybe never at all.)
Anyway.
We have to get pre-authorization from our insurance company for Bryce to get his CT scan. Apparently they must think his pediatrician is incompetent. Because some doctor that now sits behind a desk, rather than actually practicing medicine, needs to decide if my son really does, in fact, need that CT scan. I probably wouldn't be near as mad right now if they weren't taking their sweet time getting this approval. But they are.
I'm not just mad at them. I'm also mad at the hospital. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE the pediatric hospital we have. But right now I don't like them so much. They won't even make the appointment for his scan until we have the authorization number from the insurance company. Lovely. I'm sure 10 other people got appointments today, which will just push our wait back yet another day.
Have some compassion, people! These "decision-makers" need to realize that there are worried parents out there. I don't want to wait for weeks to find out if my son has something wrong with his brain. I want to know NOW! This isn't the first time I have dealt with this nonsense, but this is the first time that it is my child that has to wait. And I am not happy.
My dogs get treated quicker than this! When Chloe had a suspected thyroid problem, her blood was drawn on a Saturday and the results were back Monday morning. Have you ever gotten blood work back that quickly? Both dogs have hurt themselves before and we were able to take them to get x-rays, ultrasounds, etc. that day. I swear sometimes our pets get better health care than we do. I realize that we are paying full price for their health care, but still. The process for humans could certainly be sped up a little bit, don't you think?
ARGH!
