I took Bryce back to the ENT this morning because his left ear was still draining (after like 11 days) and they were getting concerned. He was also pulling on his right ear this morning and his eyes were a little goopy. Sure enough, the right ear is full of fluid again. The left ear is still infected, but probably not bothering him as much since it is draining. So he is getting tubes tomorrow. The doc didn’t want to wait two more weeks.
His doctor also thinks that he does have a resistant bug, so he will do another culture tomorrow. He wants the tubes in regardless, but he needs to figure out the source of this infection that won’t seem to go away, and find the right antibiotics to get rid of it.
Getting tubes is a very routine procedure, and I’m not really worried about the procedure itself. My worry is the fact that he will be put under anesthesia. It is so scary for me. But he will be in good hands at one of the best pediatric hospitals out there, with an awesome doctor, so that does ease my mind some.
Rylie acted pretty crazy for like 5 hours after she woke up from getting her tubes. It was not fun. She pretty much screamed, cried, kicked, thrashed around and vomited for what seemed like forever. And then all of the sudden she just stopped and was back to normal again. Hopefully Bryce won’t have the same reaction.
Please keep Bryce in your thoughts and prayers tonight. I will try to post an update after the surgery.
